I'm pretty sure their contracts are the reason... Ford makes 8 million, Calderon 2. And Calderon becomes a free agent after the season, while Ford is signed for 3 more seasons. That's their motive to play Ford over Calderon.

Yeah, Ford is a good PG that should start for most teams in the NBA. It's just that they play better when Calderon is on the court.

Actually, if I were the Raptors GM, I'd look to re-sign Calderon and trade Ford for a good SF/SG (but only for a good one... it'd be no salary dump. Only to improve the team). They'd be better off with a more balanced team, and Ford is a pretty valuable guy around the league.
