The newspapers are reporting that the Warriora attendance is down from previous years. We may never know the real reason or it could be a combination of reasons. Here are some of the reasons that are pretty obvious to me.

1. Higher ticket prices.
2. Higher gas prices.
3. Double digit consecutive years of not making the playoffs and not even playing .500 ball.
4. Unimaginative or non-sexy *1 draft choices. Patrick O'Bryant, Ike Diogu, Andres Biedrins. Mike Dunleavy, Troy Murphy, etc.
5. Dull coaches, Nelly excepted.

Please feel free to add to the list.

Ike and Dre should be out of the list at #4. And #1 and #3 are the real key.

Also:

6. Lack of any signing or significant move since trading for Baron.

2, 3 and 4...esp. 2. The cheapest lower bowl ticket is now $65, and there is a real qualitative difference between lower and upper bowl seats, view-wise. To do essentially nothing player-wise and compound that by raising prices so much has definitely affected how many games I go see. Decent seats for my son and me, with parking, concessions, etc...means looking at a minimum of a $200 night. Last year, those same lower bowl seats would have been less than $100...also, $8 beer and $4.50 water are extortion...

One reason: the decline of great half-time shows.

Does anybody remember when Golden State was winning 30 games a year... but had magicians, circus acts, and acrobatic, 5-man dunk shows?

What do the fans get nowadays? 12-year old Junior Warrior pickup games? Lame break-dancing squads (including a one-legged dude spinning on his head)? Or "Night Train" utterly destroying funky classics?!? Stupid!

Bring back the chick who'd do the fast-changing clothes act! That **** was bomb as ****!

C'mon, the one-legged guy was pretty cool. What are his other options besides dancing? Work as a waiter at IHOP?

But seriously, the halftime shows were much better when the Chinese acrobats would come out and toss and ungodly amount of bowls onto their head.

I also wish the cheerleaders did something besides the same dance routine over and over. I was jealous of the Magic and Nugget cheerleaders who come out and dunk. Doing something like that would be a lot cooler than seeing the same dance routine for the 100th time.

I have to add things:

Fans that would rather watch the game in a quiet environment. (look at the arena.. its sometimes REALLY quiet)

If it is 4.50 for a bottle of water and the lack of the option of bringing coolers and snacks from the outside, that is a HUGE reason.

Gas? Carpool or take BART if you can. I took bart from the UC station to colisuem station when I was in high school.

I miss the chinese acrobats.

GtoE has to go! Great time out? who the hell thought of that idea and when can I wring his/her neck. The image I see of GToE is Adonal Foyle in a conga line singing "Its Great Warriors basketball, its a great time out!"

Yeah, the halftime shows do lack the fun. There are even times where there isn't even a show. It's just singing. I mean a chance at free pizza and a Warriors shirt is nice, but I'd like to see more than that. Hell, even that "Which Warrior Said That" segment doesn't seem very challenging.

Another segment that I enjoy during breaks is the "Protect Your Identity."

I forget which company sponsors it - either Norton or McAfee - but they just take famous people's pictures and pick out similar looking folks from the crowd.

It would be infinitely funnier, however, if they finished each segment by comparing either a Warriors player or a play from the opposing team to a famous mugshot. You know it would be funny to see live footage of Andrei Kirilinko right by a pic of Drago from Rocky.

the chinese lady on the unicycle who would toss the bowls on her head was THE BEST. She would always have the most surprised look everytime she did it. Classic stuff.

Tickets prices are A LOT higher. That's pretty much it. I could vent about the stupid hoop troop, loud music, thunder, etc. but the huge ticket price increase is what is keeping people away.

I just want to go to a game and watch basketball, is that too much to ask?

yeah I totally agree. Now they have "upgrade my ride", and that weird thing where people guess what a warrior player's favorite ______ is and it's rigged so the fan is always right. and they've increased halftime two minutes. really annoying.

for me it is pretty simple. Like Hobbes said...ticket prices. I make a good living and can't justify that kind of bread for a game on a regular basis...now if the warriors girls did some tricks
