Let me help put the sanity back into this interesting conversation and super popular thread. Ibverson and Davis CAN PLAY TOGETHER!, if it came down to that. Why? Because both are basketball players. Great players adjust their games to fit into the frame work of the team. Who would have thought that Wilt Chamberlin could play with Jerry West? How about Kareem and Oscar? Bird, McHale, and Parrish? Jordan and Pippin? Shaq and Kobe? The list goes on and on.
Allen Iverson Plays the way he does because passing to himself is usually the best option. Iverson is skilled enough to play with ANYONE. He plays much bigger than his size. Whoever gets Iverson is getting a very rare ball player.
IVERSON FINALLY DOES IT

Great post! Frazier and Monroe come immediately to mind! |

Francis and Marbury? |

Baron and AI would never work. Both of these guys think shoot first pass second and both of them shoot like crap. They would monopolize the rock 90% of the time and the poor other three players stuck with them would do alot of standing around watching this ego show. No f'ing thanks! |

Baron only looks to shoot first when he is playing with an incomplete group of players. With a strong point guard, AI can move well without the ball, brush off of screens, and get open by punishing defenders through movement (he did this when teamed with Eric Snow). |

Baron is a distributor unlike Starbury or Stevie Franchise

Amen! Last night's game reaffirms OG's above statement. Look at Baron's stats from the Kings game...and the Warriors won, too! |
|
That was the most "team" productive game Baron has ever played as a Warrior. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised watching the game. He still shot like a piece of crap though. 4 for 15 which is 26% really sucks. |

Ever? What about the game he had a week or so ago when he had 18 dimes? 23 hours of my day are spent wondering what to do with my hour of spare time...

It doesnt look like this is really relavant because if we do make the trade baron is the one everyone is talking about trading (along with AB!!!!! and a third player) It makes we want to throw up just talking about it. I refuse to believe Mullin would do this and im keeping the faith but the times said the trade was basically finished!! Im just praying right now.

Hmm we trade our two best and irreplaceable players for AI. Mullin may be generous, or overly optimistic about the abilities of Murphy, Foyle and Dunleavy but Philly would of called in the chips days ago if this offer was on the table. Baron when healthy is top 10 point guard and Biedrins is clearly a top 5 center in the West. Ellis has great upside and is a fun player but didn't we have a duplicate a couple years back in Earl Boykins who still wins the close games for Denver. Thanks to Nellie, who has a history of mentoring young players (unlike Musselman or Monty) he will poke and prode Biedrins and Ellis to superstar and even all-star levels. He has transformed journeyman Matt Barnes into a stud small forward and has the no basketball IQ Pietrus playing at JRich type of level despite his shaky background (inconsistent and crappy with Monty and equally bad with the French team). There are not many teams without two starters (Diogu and Richardson) that have taken on San Antonio and Utah. The only reason to trade for AI, is to clear space to resign Biedrins and only Biedrins. The only way to resign Ellis is to trade a bad contract at the end of the season for an expiring contract. (Jr. and J-Rich seem to be the best candidates, with Foyle and Murphy having zero trade value even for an expiring contract.) |

"Ellis has great upside and is a fun player but didn't we have a duplicate a couple years back in Earl Boykins who still wins the close games for Denver"
Ellis is a million times better than boykins has ever been already and ellis is only 21. Not even close to a duplicate. Think Gilbert Arenas if you want to see what ellis' career arc will most likely be like "Thanks to Nellie, who has a history of mentoring young players (unlike Musselman or Monty) he will poke and prode Biedrins and Ellis to superstar and even all-star levels" Ellis would be an allstar with any coach "superstar and even allstar" is a kind of stupid phrase since superstar is better than allstar "The only reason to trade for AI, is to clear space to resign Biedrins and only Biedrins. " ummm..... I think the only reason to trade for AI is.... to get AI "The only way to resign Ellis is to trade a bad contract at the end of the season for an expiring contract. (Jr. and J-Rich seem to be the best candidates, with Foyle and Murphy having zero trade value even for an expiring contract.)" now the genius says that Dunleavy has a more tradeable contract than murphy. and that j-rich has a bad contract. And that a player who we have bird and arenas rights to sign no matter what is unatainable unless we trade these badly defined contracts ![]() ![]() |
