Who the hell is this Cindy Brady announcer they stuck us with for this game. Also, who thought it was a great idea to put that annoying noise to coincide with the graphics, especially when the play has already started.
I guess we have to win a super bowl to get respectable announcers.
Fox Sport coverage of the 49ers game sucks!

I don't listen to them anyway. Though I wish I could mute them and listen just to the sounds of the game. A non-commentated game. I wish Madden and Michaels could commentate someday soon. I doubt our team is good enough for Sunday night or even Monday night....not for a while...not until Smith successfully succeeds Young and the defense plays defense.
I believe the I heard the following during that play by play:
Regarding Psychology and Cardinals fans
"You know the theory about Pavlov and his dogs? Well, we have a bunch of well fed Cardinals here tonight"
The was probably the most errant use of a reference I have ever heard. I hate Fox.

I caught that, too.
That whole game was banking around the idea of the 49ers losing. It's why Arizona chose them as the first team to play them in their stadium. They wanted an "automatic win". Therefore, I think the commentary reflected that attitude.
At first, I was happy we took it to them. But, now, I just feel like we gave those Cards fans a better game to watch (which is never good).

Yeah... and, not surprisingly, Steve's actually a pretty decent analyst.
But you'd have a hard time getting a Hall of Fame quarterback to drop his part-time, high paying analyst job for 'the World-Wide Leader in Sports" to do full-time commentary for his old team (which happens to be in the toilet right now) on a local network. It just doesn't seem like it could happen.

I was into NFL some 8 years ago and I was interested for about 5 years in total. The 49ers were powers then, they are obviously not anymore?

When Young retired it was because of that concussion he received in the Cardinals game. I remember now, yes. Interesting, hah. Anyway, yes they have made the playoffs since he retired. Garcia took the starting job and still had Rice and Owens along with the breakout year from Hearst. Then Rice left, Owens was now the main target, Stokes and Wilson were his slot receivers, Stokes being the other option. Hearst had nothing left in him. The defense starting losing it. Then came the terrible 2-14 season under new coach Erickson(now coach of some college team). Yup, that pretty much sums up their timeline since Young left.

They'll be in contention for the playoffs in three years, more or less. That's how low they have fallen... but it happens to every team. No biggie.

Steve Young was better than Montana! He did awesome the year Montana was injured and showed that a little opportunity is all you need!
That was some 10 years ago though

Steve Young has been a top 5 qb all time. I wouldn't dare to say in which position.
And we traded him to the Niners
