John Hollinger is an Idiot, So I Re-Did His Iverson Article in Murphy-Fashion
(1) Troy Murphy & Mike Dunleavy to the LA Lakers for Lamar Odom & Aaron McKie
The Lakers have been looking for Lamar Odom trades since before the NBA Draft. Word is that upper management doesn't think he and Kobe Bryant coexist as well as a leading pair should. They'd prefer someone more compatable with Bryant's style of play. The Lakers seem to be willing to deal Lamar Odom for exceptional role players, and Murphy is one of the most exceptional ones on the market. It's also believed (largely due to the Clippers' organization) that Southern California still believes in Mike Dunleavy. The trade gives Los Angeles a couple capable rebounders (for grabbing all those shot-attempts that Bryant heaves up every night) who can both hit from the outside (a big plus, seeing as Bryant draws frequent double-teams). They'd have to be confident with the two, because both of their contracts last another 5 years. However, if the Lakers are seriously looking for role players to surround Bryant with, Murphy and Dunleavy are a couple good ones to start with. Hell, maybe "The Zen Master", Phil Jackson, can wake Dunleavy out of that coma his game's been in since he hit the NBA. What a coup for the Lakers, if that were the case.
(2) Troy Murphy & Mickael Pietrus to Boston for Wally Szczerbiak
Boston was thrilled with the play of Gerald Green, last season. He was a scoring machine with athletic ability to spare. Plus, the kid's tall enough to take over the SF duties, allowing Pierce to return to his natural SG role. With Green, possibly, on the rise, Boston could be looking for a new home for Wally Szczerbiak. They're currently waiting on Al Jefferson to blow up... but Jefferson is still hot-and-cold, at this point. For this reason, Boston might leap at the chance to have a more consistent player, like Murphy, start, while Jefferson develops for another year or so. Murphy and Ratliff could play the inside/outside big men game, while Pierce and Green steal the show. Jefferson and Leon Powe are still both in the blueprint phase... and Boston's looking to get back into the hunt while Pierce is still in his prime. A backup GF like Pietrus to spell Pierce or Green wouldn't hurt, either. Meanwhile, Wally could become Golden State's small forward outside threat, that they'd hoped Dunleavy would eventually become. The trade helps out both squads.
(3) Three Team Deal: Denver gets Allen Iverson, Philly gets Troy Murphy, Andre Miller, and Julius Hodge, Golden State gets Marcus Camby
This one would be great. Denver (whose been coveting Iverson) would get their man, Golden State would solve their problems at center (despite Camby's injury-prone history, he's still head-and-shoulders better than any other Warrior choice at the moment), and Philly would get a boat-load of talent for AI (something not a lot of teams have been offering). Too bad this scenario will never happen.

John Patrick wrote:Good ideas... No on Szczerbiak though. He'll only promote the perimeter shooting, which JRich and Baron don't need. Camby is a gamble... he's injury prone and approaching the end of his career. Yes on Odom! That would be my favorite.
Yeah. Pretty much agree. No need to add anything.
