Monta Ellis reminds me a lot of Sebastian Telfair. Whenever he gets minutes, he brings 15-20 points, 4-6 assists, and 4 or 5 rebounds.
Take Bassy's game against the Bucks (for example): In 33 minutes, he shoots 63% on his way to 21 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Bassy's main problems are that he's pretty turnover-prone (the game listed featured 7 TO's!) and he's not a pure point guard; he always looks to shoot first. Unfortunately, he's only 6'0"... so, unlike Ellis, he can't really play SG alongside another point because he's so undersized.
But the fact remains; he's quick, explosive, hard to stop when he's on a hot streak, and already defensively capable (he averaged a steal in only 24 minutes a night). Splitting time with Steve Blake (who averaged 2 more minutes a night than Telfair) will allow Sebastian to develop fully.
When you think about it, Portland has a lame "best of both worlds" situation with Bassy and Blake. Steve is a pure point, with a pass-first mentality and good handles. Telfair is an explosive scoring machine who can pick up the slack when someone else is playing without their head (although, on a team like Portland, I can't IMAGINE that happening). I think they'll be pretty set at PG in the next 3 years when both players fully expand their games.
Next Big PG?

Bassy can't shoot for his life. He's not even a 40% shooter. He has some good shooting games from time to time, but still needs A LOT of improvement. Other than that, I think he has a chance to be an explisive offensive player, more than suited to lead an NBA team. His numbers are not a good way to measure his abilities as a pg, as he's played a lot of SG this year, with Blake as the pg. Hence his lack of assist.
btw, Blake s*cks. He's not even a decent backup. Jarret Jack and Bassy should be playing that position for Portland. |

I like Steve Blake's game. I know it's not there yet, but I think he can become a decent backup in time.
And Bassy's shooting is just streaky. It's not that he can't shoot. He could go 1 for 7 some nights... and (like I said above) shoot over 60% on others. Sporadic, streaky, and unreliable. That's his tag for now, but I believe he'll be a helluva talent in 3 years. ![]() GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS DIE HARD ![]() ![]() |

The Blazers need all their guards to become real good! They are looking horrible and their frontline might get worse as it looks like Miles and Przybilla might be gone soon

Oh, just because I think their guards will improve doesn't mean I think they'll win. Unless they bag a real effective player out of the draft this year, they'll be back in the lottery next season.

While Port should go big in the draft, I think a BD/Ellis/J23 combo would be sufficient in the defensive/explosive department. Almost unstopable---***030***---

And add MP (for a couple of season?) off the bench...

Miles' just played the first season of a shiny new 5 year contract, buddy... Although I wouldn't be surprised if he's traded. I don't think he's a good fit for the kind of players McMillan likes. |

But the owner wants to be Darius' valentine, so McMillan and Miles are gonna have to work pretty hard to get him outta Oregon.

I've noticed that Livingston's getting more and more votes as the playoffs go on... it's almost not fair to any of the other points on the list that he's getting so much more exposure.

I was with him from the moment I 1st watched him play. Nah man, its almost no comparison (almost). Fair? Yeah, your right. It's not fair that GOD gave him SG/SF height with a PG game. Shaun's 20 years old and will soon be " The Man " who runs the " Clip " show. Wow...Thats something I thought I'd never say... "The Clip Show "---***030***---

Only issue with him is if he'll ever be healthy enough for a full season.

And that's a rather large issue in the NBA these days... ![]() GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS DIE HARD ![]() ![]() |
