His age means nothing; his seasons are what you need to judge his mileage by. If age were a factor, Shawn Kemp would still be around. Jermaine O'Neal may only be 28... but he's been pounding these roads for 10 years now. To think he'll play another 8 (as in an 18-year career) doesn't sound realistic to me. Most inside bangers retire between the 14-16 season.
Seemed to be alright with Moses Malone (started playing ABA when he was 17).
Most players used to play 3 or 4 years in college before they went to the nba but they were only 21 or 22 years old and they played until 38 - 40 years of age. Since Jermaine started 4 years earlier (if that even means anything), he should be playing at least until he is 35 - 36. That gives 7 or 8 seasons which is a long time.
Kobe Bryant started playing at the same age but logged far more minutes. Does that mean he will be useless by the age of 35????
