Well we all know he's on the roids.

but my question is, if he comes back at 42 and belts a good 40+ homers and is tested at the current stage to be negative. Wouldnt that define him as a great player then?

bonds probably was on roids. but roids only help you get stronger and heal faster. last time i check roids doesnt improve your hand-eye coordination or timing which is key to hitting homeruns not just pure power. so i still think bonds is a great player.

Roids don't help with hand-eye coordination thats a talent that no one can take away from Bonds, but roids can make the difference between a ball hit far into the outfield or a spash hit...

but its not like bonds suddently became good at homeruns. he was always a homerun hitter even in pitt. not like palmeirto who suddenly had a spike in homeruns.

Agreed. Bonds is probably the best hitter of all time and he earned every record he's broken, but roids just aren't good for baseball or any other sport for that matter...(except WWE)

Not quite sure how you can say Barry didn't have spike in Homers... Didn't he only hit more than 40 like once in his career before like '99??

I'm one of the few who don't believe any of this media propaganda about Barry Bond's steroid abuse. Bonds has the science of hitting down harder than Bill Russell had the science of blocking shots down. He has a slugging percentage of, like, 80%, for God's sake. When Barry broke the record, he was batting near .400 with a slugging % of 86%. That's just a damn good hitter, folks.

Besides, if Bonds really WAS on the 'roids, don't you think he would have stopped taking them by now? I mean, he's been under the microscope since he hit 71... and, really, he hasn't gotten any smaller. And even when he hit 71, his forehead wasn't protruding, his shoulders (which had always been widespread) didn't beef up to an unhealthy degree, and he never showed any signs of acne. If anybody was ever on steroids, my money's on Big Mac (who pretty much showed every symptom there is pertaining to the juice). But did anybody question HIM when HE broke the records...? It's the damn media because Bonds doesn't give them any camera time! It's all a big damn lie!

Barry Bonds for best player in the history of baseball!

There are a LOT of Better Ways to do a LOT of THINGS

AND ...

It doesn't mean we human beings always know what they all are ... or ... that we are always willing TO DO them.

I could LIST a whole bunch of negatives about a whole bunch of people ...
as though that would help "me" justify "my" position, make "me" feel better etc.

BUT ...

IF you believe that setting positive goals and taking positive actions is the
"best way" to create a more positive situation for oneself and others ...
then your goals would include ????

My answers ...

What would be best for Barry Bonds? Mark McGwire? Sammy Sosa?
name names? Other baseball players, baseball fans, people of the world in general?
What could we individually and collectively do that would be
GOOD for these individual human beings AND ourselves?

We should "collectively" be doing EVERY GOOD THING we can think of to
HELP ALL THE PARTICIPANTS ... If yo'er good thing isn't good for the
other guy .. then guess what ... it's not as good a thing as it could be ...

Personally ... I WANT BARRY BONDS TO DO WELL with his athletic talents
while he's got them. That's the important FUTURE left that could be
RUINED by HUMAN BEINGS. Please ... do your individual best NOT to let
THAT happen!

He certainly ISN'T taking steroids now?

I want the world and every individual athlete or not to "understand" what
they need to understand TO DO what they need to do with their bodies to
make them better ... stronger ... last longer ... etc. I want them to be
FREE and WILLING to help others achieve their positive goals.

I want to see a future where Barry Bonds has much to offer to every
youngster, every middlester, every oldster ... about athletics and life and
each of our unique places in it.

I want the world and the greatest majority of people in it to celebrate this
man, his achievements ... and, while we can, to participate in them.
I want us to demonstrate better ways to talk about "perfection."

It currently looks like and feels like ... HERE WE GO AGAIN ...
Here comes "old whatshisname" to tell me once again what a jerk he
thinks ... he knows Barry Bonds is ... and ... that the truth of his opinion
justifies DOING WHATEVER WE CAN THINK OF AGAINST HIM ...

Onward Christian Asshole!

I don't want it to come out that way.

:agrue:

I "visualize" Barry Bonds teaching youngsters and others the simple
nature of the way he developed and now exercises his skill ...

Image
The Way He HITS A BALL!

I want Barry Bonds to be able to share the good and the bad of his life and
career ... and the method he uses to do his best to help make it all come
out better ... for every one.

Image

I want a simple world where more people can share in the pleasures ...
when Barry Bonds wins! We can't ALL win unless Barry wins too.

That's what I want to memorialize forever ... why ... because he's a Master
.. and his skills are, like other masters, repeatable by others ... if they can
become good enough.

Greater things will Ye DO !!!

That's the true progression of human nature ... if we're good enough, AND
WE ARE ... to develop and follow it.

God Bless Barry Bonds ... AND ... The San Francisco Chronicle
