John Hollinger wrote on ESPN Insider:

This one is a calculated risk, but one that could work for a team with a surplus of big guards and a need for post scoring. Donating a surplus backcourt player to Chicago for Sweetney would provide a 23-year-old double-double machine (he's averaging 17.9 points and 11.5 boards per 40 minutes) to play the blocks. The risky part is obvious with just one look -- apparently Sweetney hired Robert Traylor, Shawn Kemp and John Williams to design his offseason conditioning program. As a result, he's had trouble oozing back up the court in transition, and defensively the only rotation he's familiar with is that spinning wheel on top of the dessert cart. On the other hand, if he's putting up these numbers even with the extra tire, imagine if he ever got in shape?

Does this sound like our team or what? A "surplus of guards"... anybody willing to give up Calbert Cheaney (or Derek Fisher... which would mean we'd need to take another player with Mike) to get a proven low-post threat? Like John Hollinger (who I rarely agree with) said, imagine how scary it would be for other teams if Sweetney ever got in shape? No doubt the Junkyard Dog would whip his fat ass into gear after a couple practices (besides, we can't get much worse on defense already). I'd give up Cheaney or Fisher for him this summer... anybody else?

If anything, with the impending trade of Troy Murphy (which I'm sure will happen sooner or later... I just have that feeling), Ike Diogu will have a solid offensive backup.

No, Sweets won't ever get in shape. I'd do it only to dump salary.

We already have one undersized pf with more potential than Sweets.

I dunno... I'd give them Cheaney, if they're looking for a veteran guard to go with their young talent. Fisher is probably pushing it. Never the less, he'd make a good backup for Ike or Troy (whichever player ends up in Golden State).

He's not that expensive and he'll be an expirer next season. If anything, he'll have more value then...

Well, yeah... the trading period is over. :) Every trade discussed from this point on is assumed for next season or this summer, right...?
