By drafting a polished college small forward like Harrison Barnes and trading Dorell Wright, the assumption for many is that Barnes will be the Warriors' starting small forward next season.

Newly signed Brandon Rush isn't ready to concede the starting spot, however.

"I'm coming in trying to get that starting job at the three spot," Rush told CSNBayArea.com. "I've been working hard the whole, entire summer to build up on that."

Here's our take: for Rush to start, Barnes will probably have to struggle early as a rookie. For one, Barnes just brings too much size and upside to the three. On top of that, Rush was simply dynamite off the bench in 2011-12, his first season with the Warriors, connecting on 45 percent of his 3-point attempts. He started just one game last season.

Not mad at that, if he says what he means which I believe then I love that attitude, as a basketball player the hope is to always get better.

That said I love Rush coming off the bench as a spark, giving our bench balance.

Yeah warriorsstepup, I hear that..can't blame the guy for his fire. I don't see it happening though..I guess like the article said, if Barnes struggles then he'll probably end up starting..but not right off the bat. I guess anything is possible though..he could dominate in training camp..dunno.

Hey competition is always good. But then who's backup SG if that happened. I like B Rush at SG and then playing SF in spots.
I believe Harrison Barnes was a steal. Like a year ago I remember looking at nbadraft.net and he was projected to go #1 overall.
Will need to try Barnes or B Rush af SF in NBA 2K13 before I make final assessment

It's always best when the players on a team push each other, the standard can only get higher.

We don't need to regard his statement as literal. I hope Rush does as good as he can, that is all. Then let the rest take care of itself.

Yeah, i want to keep Rush as a spark off the bench - he excelled with the 2nd team last season. I just don't see him ever becoming an every day starter.

My sentiments are the same as everyone else.

He's saying the right things, even if there's not much merit behind his aspiration.

I also think he realizes he wants starting SF money. I am sure he wouldn't mind coming off the bench if the pay were the same.

Good job Rush. He should be having this mentality. He did awesome for us last season. He wouldn't be working hard all summer with being a bench player in mind, no matter the cards play out when season starts.

Just bought 2k13 yesterday. They have Brandon Rush's overall skill level at 71. What a damn shame. He's at least a 76 or something. They have Bogut at 79! WTF!?

I'm planning to get the game these days as well. What did you expect? They never give those kind of numbers to rotation guys that play in a team that was far from PO spot. And Bogut missed almost a whole year. They do it based on team's result, so, when Warriors finally do something, they'll get more props, as will their players.
