Agreed. I was thinking the same thinking while watching the finish. Don't see a reason for that...if he shot 2-3 secs before time is up, we can do something else, like that Lee's tip in for example, and Utah still couldn't do anything with the ball if they got the rebound (and they don't need to do anything, cause it wasn't a tie, they had the lead).
And that wasn't foul on Hayward in the end.
