Yes... and, yet, people still feel compelled to dream... it was annoying, intriguing, funny, and now it's gone back to annoying again.

GARNETT WILL NEVER BE A WARRIOR!

ThenWHO would get Garnett.......... and what would they offer! Most teams wouldn't want to give up too much for a disgruntled star (like with Artest), even if it is the great KG! Most teams would have to give up at least 4 players and that would not give KG a championship team to go to, which is what he wants!

It will take at least 2 star players to land Garnett (meaning we'd need to give up Baron and Jason). And even if we were somehow able to pull it off with only one of our stars (including huge talent, like Murphy, Ike, and Pietrus with our star), Minny would demand Baron Davis (not JRich). I guarentee it. Mully's not that stupid.

The Pacers have been discussing the rearrangement of their team lately. I could see them resigning Peja for 3-4 years, then trading Jermaine, Stephen Jackson, and Fred Jones, along with picks and cash, for Kevin Garnett. It's a bad trade for Indy, but they've stressed that they want to revamp their lineup (with rumors of O'Neal eventually being run out with the rest of the current core). It's a better deal for Minnesoda (and it's more likely to happen, with Bird stressing a major make-over in Indy in the next few seasons).

That's just ONE example. The Warriors are not in the hunt for Garnett. I'm sure they'll call, regarding something for Murphy packaged with talent, but they wont be serious about it. Don't get excited over nothing, boys.

How about J-Rich, Murphy and Diogu for KG but at the end of the season when J-Rich and Murphy's contracts aren't reduced for trade value because of BYC? J-Rich has arrived, Murphy is serviceable and Diogu is a budding star. Problem is Minnesota is still badly needing a point guard and I think that will be their focus. But we should definately not give up Baron. Think how many woeful years we had to go through between Tim Hardaway and Baron Davis. You shouldn't let a blue chip point guard leave for any reason, particularly one of Baron Davis's calibur.

You'd HONESTLY trade away Jason Richardson, Ike Diogu, and Troy Murphy for Kevin Garnett...?

Geez, people, lets not get carried away. He's a good player, but he's ending his prime, he's expensive as hell, and he'll need the ball to run through him on offense to be the weapon that you guys are hoping for. It's smarter to keep our younger players than to trade for Garnett!

I think he still has 5-7 years of prime bball. But there's a problem trading for KG. His contract prevents any further signings to help the team (that was Minny's problem while he was there. Well, that and McHale's ineptitude.), so if we give up too much for him, we'd be stuck in the same position Minny was for years, falling out in the first round of the playoffs.

Just wait for problems to start appearing between KG and the TWolves. Once the TWolves again don't make the playoffs, Garnett will have had enough and want to move to where he can have a real chance of getting a championship in the next 2 or 3 years. Whether he think the Warriors are capable is another story but the bargaining power will be in the Warriors' favor and like I said, players like Dunlavy, Murphy and Taft, along with a future 1st round pick, should be enough for McHale to start over, that's if he still has the job!

:? I'd say he has about 2-3 more "Garnett years"... but he'll be effective for the next 5 or 6 seasons. This means after his stint in Minny (and a season or two with his new team), he'll be effective in a rebounding, inside scoring sort of way... but don't expect any crazy 30/22 games from him. Kevin Garnett turns 30 this may. Shaquille O'Neal (far more dominant than Garnett ever was) is 34 and slowing rapidly (he hit the end of his prime his 1st season for the Heat). Garnett will probably turn into a 19 and 9 player when he turns 32 or 33. Murphy is already a 16 and 10 guy (not counting the other talent we'd have to dish away with him). We don't want an aging star at the end of his run... Troy Murphy, Ike Diogu, Mickael Pietrus, and Jason Richardson all have more gas left in their tank than Garnett. The short term, first season where we get to the 1st or 2nd round isn't worth it.

The way this season is panning out - Better off getting Karl Malone out of retirement and play him. An old star is better than what is happening right now!

An old star who's contributions are declining...?

No thanks; I have more hope for the future than anything. This season was a toss-up for the playoffs; don't think it'll be that way for the next 2 or 3 years. The hype coming into the season clouded the brains of every rabid, kool-aid drinking fan who wanted so badly to believe that we would finally snap our playoff drought. Although your hopes may have gotten tossed up and down this season, the dumber choice would be to get frustrated and throw the team away (before it reaches it's full potential) in an effort to salvage a quick (but brief and unfulfilling) fix. Before you shuffle the deck at the slightest sign of failure (which is what Saint Jean would have done), let the team pan out and see how far this squad would have gone.

We're always going to wonder "what if" with Run TMC; seemingly young, talented players who became superstars on other teams. I don't want Baron, Jason, Ike, Murphy, and Pietrus to be the same thing.
