but, i think there is a way to avoid salary cap....
like working side job in the facility...
example monta agree to get 5 millions salary as a players and then everyday he come and do some little things in the facility like "wash dishes" and W's pay him 10 millions for that...so tottally he get from W's is 15 millions but because as a player he only get 5 millions so it only count 5 millions salary cap...right
and the 10 millions is a worker pay....it just a way to avoid salary cap...hehehehehe
is that possible

lol. no, none of this is possible. Or at least should I say allowed. Certainly you can try to pay someone under the table but if you get caught then you get Stern's hammer!

Remember Joe Smith and the Twolves for an example of what happens if you get caught...

This is the dark labyrinth of the salary cap space thread... where mere mortals dare not tread.
I've only heard stories about this place and it's dark secrets.

I've got my calculator at the ready..... :-k

wait this still doesnt nake sense to me

dorrel wright used the MLE right? how can he have a ten mill, 3 year contract (which seems to spread evenly over the 3 years), if the exception is 5.675M? even if you spread it out it still doesn't make sense.

are we acquiring another player to split the difference?

Because I think you can CHOOSE how much of your MLE you use............even have the remaining difference between the 5.76 and whatever youve used, as a smaller exception.

Vaguely remember something like that.

Exactly. We're not forced to use the whole MLE on a single player.

np, I didn't even realize until I was done with the spreadsheet that firstoff already had one on google docs, but they are basically the same. i'm just going to have to depend on some of you guys letting me know of any updates that need to take place - I'll try to stay on top of it but my overall lack of knowledge of NBA salaries is going to be somewhat of a hindrance. Anyone know about Jeremy Lin's contract?
