Bill Hicks is and always will be the most subversive, intelligent, thought provoking all the while being ass burstingly funny ever..............the best.
Alot of us have the same tatste here and discussed how we did in the old comedy thread we had. Mitch is a big favourite of mine, probably second behind Bill but by a long way................then Pryor and Carlin as other greats. Its funny about Rogan..............cuz he loved Bill ALOT and got heavily involved with Bill's friends and their production company after Bill passed. So Joe had a real good pedigree and was drawing comparisons to Bill with how intelligent and able to speak on stuff he was/is. But man, those sh*tty ass shows he did/does just took the shine off it a little and kind of flew in the face of some of the stuff that he used to rip the sh*t out of in his early years..............ie: being a sell out and doing crappy TV sh*t for money. Suppose it is possible to be a funny, smart cool guy and also like that "meat head" stuff as well. Heres some Bill classics = http://noolmusic.com/my_video/bill_hick ... _video.php http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J10w3FuCwfQ - "I will lower the standards of the Earth!" "I will put all the money in the hands of 14 year old girls!" One of my biggest favourites is the getting pulled over on acid or mushrooms (he chnaged it sometimes) but cant find a vid for it............."Hey, what is this a leather bar?"

Ohh yeah man, Bill was/is one of, if not his biggest influences.................he spoke out alot about Dennis Leary ripping off Bills material, putting his career in jeopardy early on with that. |

Eddie Griffin is hilarious! He reminds me of a lot of characters I used to know back in the midwest. I love that bit he did with the minister and his wife sitting there.... lmao. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3pIsA0Q ... re=related

Awwright... I listened/watched some more Rogan. And while I agree with most of his opinions, get his point of view, and think he is funny, he still comes off in his performance as a meathead, jock, fratboy who took mushrooms one day and woke up to cosmic reality. I bet he's a load of fun to hang with and an intelligent dude, but that's the vibe of his performance to me overall. I'll say this about "over the top" type comedians. They can be difficult to take at first, but once you settle in to their aggressive style of delivery, they can get funnier.
I like this comedian, Doug Stanhope. Similar delivery and point of view. Stanhope just comes across an intelligent drunk guy talking from the barstool about whatever but funny as hell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTOQhPd2 ... re=related Last edited by Money on Wed Jul 14, 2010 9:32 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Richard Pryor is mythic! the guy just hands down one of the funniest realist cats to ever take the stage.
Rodney Dangerfield used to really bother me, but right after he died, I watched a bunch of his comedy and really grew to appreciate him. He was the classic foil, deadbeat lounge, one liner comic. Vegas baby all the way. Truly one of a kind and just had one joke after another after another after another ... He would rattle off about 10 one liners in a row, rapid fire. get the audience roaring. adjust his collar and say: "I tell ya, I got a lot of fu*kin jokes" hilarious... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFwYjYWu ... re=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9lzez1WoX8&feature=fvst http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3pIsA0Q ... re=related
