I watched the slam dunk contest last night on Tivo and boy…..THAT was the most sorry excuse for a dunk contest I have ever witnessed.

I’m sure there are many different angles as to why it was bad, but here are my own highlights (or rather lowlights):

• NO STAR POWER: Outside of the people on this board, no one knows or cares about Nate Robinson, Demar DeRozan, Shannon Brown, or Gerald Wallace
• NO ENERGY: Shannon Brown and Gerald Wallace looked bored and indifferent the whole night. Did anyone catch when the cameraman had his camera on Gerald Wallace covering his entire face with his two hands looking out through his fingers!!!
• REC LEAGUE DUNKS: The vast majority of the dunks were LAME – they may have been interesting in the 80’s…heck, I’m not even sure they’d be good in the 80’s!!

I’m actually a big fan of the dunk contest, but this past one was not only embarrassing, it was the worst ever…..by far.

What they need to do: have 2 or 3 random, non NBA dunk specialists come in and challenge 2 or 3 random NBA athletes. Would be entertaining to see some random people in the world make names for themselves. That one foreign white guy that has like a 60 inch vert would dominate. Him and T-Dub... and the Air up there. Omfg imagine those 3 in a contest.

While it may be interesting to see And1 people like The Helicopter, etc and other amateurs (e.g. Flight Bros on YouTube) take on NBA players…All Star weekend is meant to showcase the best of the NBA, so I doubt David Stern has any interest promoting competing interests as entertaining as it may be.

I just hope that was a wake up call to guys like LeBron. Honestly, I would love to see James White in there. I know he's not on an NBA team, but man... that guy can dunk.

James White is an absolute beast. It would’ve been good if he got an invite to participate in the slam dunk contest when he was with the Spurs. But yeah, the contest really needs some star power. If there was only some way D Stern could “coerce” Lebron, Kobe, Howard, and Wade to enter…that’s pay per view right there.

Forgot about James White. Too bad he could barely play... but his hangtime was gross. How many people can do windmills from the freethrow line

Man, Im soooooo glad I downloaded the last college dunk contest he was in............lost to Rudy Gay..........but man, it was IN-SANE, the sh*t he was pulling.

One of the best dunk contests Ive ever seen.............yeah, but shame he couldnt play for sh*t though, just too damned skinny and had no other attribute other than jumping in his arsenal.
