I just posted an (end of a stressful week)-rant about Steph and Monta playing together, but with the thought that this will become Curry's team, not Monta's; with the assumption/hope that it would work. Now that i've smoked and relaxed, your quote got me thinking - Curry's hip and quick and all, but he's old, old-school in his attitude and approach to the game. There's a lot of situations where he couldn't be the leader - on a team with Jennings or Tyreke, or someone like them, cause he wouldn't be the alpha dog. So the question for me is, can Monta let Steph become the leader? Or can Steph take the leadership and if so, would Monta be cool with it? Will there be an awkward co-leadership period? Will that split the team?

Oh hell, how soon until we play the Lakers so I can watch another game on my tv rather than my computer?

That's what was great about Monta's soph game - he was scoring on dishes from Paul - it was cool for them to show off their skills, cause it wasn't ballhogging.

meh, it's a rok/soph game. you know the deal...

morrow didn't do too much and curry had a small hot streak - 3 or 4 beautiful shots back to back to back (to back?). that was fun to watch.

If it's still at like 50% don't bother mate

Sometimes being a leader is about letting others "appear" to be the alpha dog.

See, I think Curry's attitude is to try to win. If that is old school, then I prefer it to new school. If Monta/maggette/jennings represent "new school," taking fifty shots while everyone else stands and watches, then we are really in trouble.

The cream rises, and Curry keeps getting better. Eventually, he will be on top wherever he is. He just goes about getting there in a humble way.

I definitely agree with you - by writing that Curry is old, old-school, I meant that he's mastered the fundamentals to go along with his flash & dash. And for the W's backcourt of the future to work, Curry has to be the leader and Monta has to accept that willingly. Accepting Riley at his word that they are untradeable, then soon enough they will be at a crossroads where Steph/Monta can be a great tandem (with Curry in charge), bitter rivals, or some kind of uneasy, inefficient middle ground. I like the Kidd/Carter comparison, but another potential example is if DWade signs with the Bulls this summer. DRose would have to be the floor leader and DWade the scorer, just as I see Steph needing to be the floor leader and Monta the scorer. I've been a huge Monta fan since his rookie year; I hope he does the right thing cause I don't want to have to stop liking him.
