Opinions on trading for Zach Randolph...

Zach Randolph 2009/2010
20.4 ppg (.505 fg%) (.827 ft%)
11.5 rpg (4.6 off, 6.8 def)
1.9 apg
.5 bpg
36.9 minutes per game
Height 6-9
Weight 260 lbs.
Age 28
Experience 8 years
Salary = $16,000,000 in 2010

This guy has a big salary but he is putting up numbers to back it. This has been his best season by far. He's neither very tall or short for PF, but he has the beef the Warriors are seriously lacking in the paint. The Grizzles are one of the few teams without a shortage of bigs and Randolph is the only player on their team with a huge salary. He's not too old at 28.

Here's a trade that worked on the NBA Trade Machine...

Warriors Trade: Monta Ellis + Speedy Claxton
Grizzles Trade: Zach Randolph
*Claxton has a 1 year $5,209,454 contract. Monta a 5 year $11,000,000 contract and Z. Randolph a 2 year $16,000,000 contract. This would give the Grizzles the most cap room of any team after this season plus Monta. Our lineup would look like this...

PG - Curry
SG - Morrow
SF - Mags
PF - Z. Randolph
C - Beans

another trade...

Warriors Trade: Monta + Biedrins
Grizzlies Trade: Z. Randolph + Gay
Our lineup would look like this...

PG - Curry
SG - Mags
SF - Gay
PF - Z. Randolph
C - Turiaf

Almost any trade we make for Z. Randolph gives us a big boost in beef

I don't want ZRand, even though he is playing real well. He is overpaid I think and Gay is who I want from the Grizz, as he doesn't get in the way of AR and he is young and won't get paid anywhere near what ZRand gets

For two reasons...

The first is same thing Migya just mentioned. Many think he is overpaid. I personally think if he can continue to play at the level he is playing now he isn't overpaid.

The other reason is that this has been his best season so far, and I think people are still skeptical of Z. Randolph. They aren't sure if he'll continue to play at this level. I think he just hit his prime and what we are seeing of him now is what he will continue to be for many years to come.

He would have been a great acquisition for someone in the offseason, when his stock was low, because he's been a documented head case for years. Brandon Roy thought the TB's could never win as long as he was there. But sometimes players do grow up and reform. Time will tell if he just lapses back to the crazy idiot he was.

EXACTLY!!!............for the first time in his career, people are talking about him positively, he gets the respect and recognition from the coaches of the league and is given his first All Star appearance.

Plus!!! Hes got a Grizz team, who havnt changed much from the awful team they had last year, 5 games over 500, 8th seed in a tough West.

COME ON GRIZZ!!! WHY ARENT YOU TRADING HIM FOR MONTA AND SPEEDY!!!!
