He certainly played some defense against Dirk in the playoffs!

last year, rockets were blown out by record-breaking 40 points against mavs in game 7. tmac started the game awfully and chose to sit out the entire 4th quarter. it was yao ming, often criticized as being soft, fought all the way until the last whistle, played career high 43 minutes, scored playoff career high 33 points, almost half of the total points rockets scored as a team.

tmac is an extremely talented, but lacks of competitiveness. when things going well, he's as good as anybody in the universe. when things not going well, he just waves the flag.

rox has played 3 games without yao ming. the first one against lakers, when yao's extensive absence not announced yet, tmac was motivated by his personal duel against kobe, played a solid game and beat lakers. after yao's officially out, rox has fallen apart, blown out by raptors at home and by struggling nuggets. in each game, tmac didn't start well and gave up when trailing by double digits. after the nuggets game, jeff van gundy went public questioning team's attitude, you knows whom he's pointing to.

TMac played with effort in the playoffs against the mavs! Maybe he doesn't do that all the time but you can't use that as an example for him being heartless! The guy is the main reason the Rockets can possibly be anything! Yao Ming just isn't enough, at least not yet that he is still soft
