I just finished picking my active players for my keeper league and here is how I ended up. Its a 12 team league. This is an auction league....getting closers was a bitch, everybody overspent early and I had to pay $46 for Hanley so I had to stand on the sidelines until the cheaper closers came out. What do you think?

I'm not sure any of us are as knowledgeable about fantasy baseball as you are Always. But from the looks of your team, I'd say you have a very strong hitting team. Your Starters are nothing spectacular, but have the potential to get the job done. As for your closers...are they even closers??

I'm more interested in reading about what you think about your team. Maybe I can learn something about fantasy baseball strategy.

Im pretty happy with my team Fine. I had to lay back after spending a bunch on guys like Han-Ram and Ichiro, but I got some good bargains in the bullpen. My 3 guys are closers at the moment and all I can hope is that I can squeeze 20-25 saves apiece out of them. Saves is not a really important category as far as Im concerned, if you cant win it...I just try not to lose it.

In this league, you have to get 1000 innings out of your pitchers, so you have to make sure you get some guys in your rotation that can eat some innings.

I tried to get in the mix on some frontline pitchers, but they went for ridiculous prices, so instead of going after #1 guys and having to balance them out with #5s, I tried to get mostly #2 starters with some potential aces like Ubaldo, Lowe and Bedard. I really like the auction / keeper style of league, to me, its a lot more about stragegy than the dumb luck of the line draft.

You definitely have not lost the race already.

I'm starting to understand why all the fantasy experts recommend not overreaching for closers. If you can get 20 saves out those three you should be pretty well off. Also pays to do your research before the draft, because I would not have known they were even closers.

I keep away from auction leagues. too much strategy = too much thinking = being owned.

I have been in this league for, I think 12 or 13 years now. I did really bad the first several years, but I got my keeper roster built up by selling off my good players at the deadline, but I have won 3 of the past 5 years and finished 2nd and 3rd the other 2 years. I think I have the offensive firepower to win the offensive categories and if I can finish midway in the pitching, I should be right in the mix again.

DO YOU GUYS WANT TO DO ME A FAVOR? I need an opinion on how i did on my draft. So in order to keep bias out, i wont tell u which team is mine (thus random). The teams will follow my message. There 8 teams. So just glance at em, and tell me what you think.

so if you want to:

1. tell me the best and worst team in your opinions (or if ur bored, rank all 8)
2. Guess which team you think is mine (it might be hard)

Thanks!

After a quick 1 minute scan of all the rosters, I'd say teams B is on the top tier, with a bunch of teams on the second tier, and team A alone on the bottom.

My guess for your team is team F.

It's worth a lot now. Didn't you hear? They recovered from inflation rather quickly.

Okay, fellas. Don't forget to set your rosters. Especially for tomorrow, if any of you guys have any Sunday game teams on your roster.

SO, yeah, the team fine said was the best (team B) is actually mine... not team F... But i guess you might of thought that my team was team F as many of those players make up my team in the Board's league.

I like team C's pitching, but he got not enough hitters. AND team A is real bad... he is gonna lose for sure.

-------------------------------------------
As for our team, i'm sending some trade proposals around, so you guys should check it out. Reject them, counter them, accept them, whatever.

Oh and do your lineups people... even though we all are making the playoffs!

Crackerz, you do know how to draft. But it remains to be seen how you well you perform during the season.

yes i do... but yea, i am pretty darn good in fantasy sports generally. I always win one league for each sport each year (usually have 2-3 leagues each time) so my success rate is pretty high. then if i don't win, im usually in the top half of the standings.

This year, i had a bunch of bad luck on one of my basketball teams (the board league), and got 7th place (out of 14) for an under performing squad. I'm in the finals on my third league (my homies suck in fantasy sports, so I usually beat them them). I was a part of 2 fantasy football leagues this year. I won a championship in one, and lost the other one, but was #1 in the standings for the regular season.

So im banking on going back on track.... HOPEFULLY!
