Guys,

This is hillarious................so we have a show over here called "X-Factor" and its basically a Pop Idol spin off.

So, it always ends just before Christmas, and the winner gets to release a song in the running for Christmas number one, and usually gets it.

This year, Simon Cowell (of course you all know who he is?) chose Leonard Cohens - Hallelujah as the finalists song to release.

This has sparked OUTRAGE by the fans of both the original and especially the Jeff Buckley version.

So, they have formed massive groups on Facebook, urging people to buy/download the Jeff version, so as to beat out the X-Factor version to Christmas number 1

And so far, from no-where, and with no actual release of the Buckley version (it isnt available to buy in shops as a single)..........ITS A NUMBER 2 ON THE WIDWEEK CHARTS!!! Image

Moreover, there is a big march in London this weekend, to protest the use of the song and promote the buying of the Buckley version..........Ive never seen anything like this, well, atleast anything so succesful...........I just think its hillarious, and great of course (considering Im a HUGE Jeff fan)

Check out the links =

SkyNews wrote:Fans of late singer Jeff Buckley are planning to convene on London's Trafalgar Square as their campaign to make his version of Hallelujah Christmas number one gathers pace.

There are now 75,979 members of the Facebook group 'Jeff Buckley for Xmas no 1' - and more are joining by the minute.

All want to see Buckley's 1994 cover of Leonard Cohen's classic song beat that by X Factor winner Alexandra Burke.

Despite the fact Burke's version was the fastest-selling download single ever across Europe, the Buckley campaign has already helped propel the American singer's track to number three in the unofficial midweek charts.

If it climbs higher, this could mean two versions of the same song sitting at number one and number two in the Christmas charts.

However, the Official UK Charts Company has warned that it will investigate the group, after members urged supporters to buy multiple copies to boost its ranking.

"Any multiple purchases of a single can be detected by our security checks," a spokesperson said.

In a final push before the Christmas chart on Sunday, the Buckley group is asking fans to gather in central London on Friday evening to show their support for the cause.

Campaign founder Lucy Powell stressed that her group was not created as an attack on the X-Factor winner.

"I just wanted to make it clear to people that there was already an amazing version of ‘Hallelujah’," she said in a statement posted on the group's Facebook page.

"I didn’t like the idea of a song whose lyrics and melody I have found incredibly moving being used to sell records by whichever competitor won a talent contest.”

Another member of the group, Phil Johnson, defended the campaign, saying: "Buckley's version [is] more authentic to the meaning of song.

He argued that the X Factor bosses were spending thousands on publicity for Alexandra's single, whereas the Buckley version, which isn't even being released on CD single, relied on pure public support.

Whatever the outcome, one person is a guaranteed winner - the song's writer, who will pocket the royalties.

"Leonard Cohen must think Christmas has come early!" said HMV's Gennaro Castaldo.

"Just when it looked like the X Factor had taken all the unpredictability out of Christmas, the charts are coming back to prove they're always capable of throwing up a surprise."

Mr Castaldo added that he did not believed two covers of the same song had ever occupied the top two positions in the UK chart - and certainly not at Christmas.
