NBA Salary Cap Projected To Increase By 7.7 Percent

The NBA 2014-15 salary cap is now projected to be $63.2 million and the tax level is projected to be $77.0 million. The numbers for 2015-16 are now projected to be $66.5 million and $81.0 million, respectively.

The official numbers won't come out until July when the NBA conducts its audit.

The salary cap and luxury tax values for the current season are $58.679 million and $71.748 million, respectively, which means the new cap projection for next season represents a 7.7% increase over this season.

The original revenue forecast for 2014-15 was $4.66 billion, so with an actual revenue of $4.75 billion, the players would get 60.5% of the difference, or $54.45 million, on top of their 50% guarantee ($2,33 billion), for a total of about $2.384 billion.

The increase could make signing Carmelo Anthony far more viable for the Houston Rockets and Chicago Bulls.

What does that do for us? Maybe allows trading of Lee and Barnes for Love and then resigning him next year for maximum. Could also allow for the resigning of Klay to about what Curry gets at least.

What this could do is allow for more of the major market teams to have three superstars on near max money while the smaller market teams overpay for lesser level players.

With how Barnes has played this year, zero chance we can get Love for him and Lee.

Another team would easily offer something better. If we want Love, it will take Klay.

Exactly.

And since we mortgaged all of our future 1st's to get Iggy, we can't really sweeten a Lee-Barnes package... Unless you wanna throw in a cheap, effective player - of which, all we have is Draymond Green.

So either you give them Lee & Thompson or you try a package of Lee, Barnes, Green, & cash and pray all the other teams don't want Love, cause that's a pretty easy package to beat.

Barnes has had an off year, but game 1 showed that he can play quite well. He is stil very young and still seen as having alot of potential. I don't think Minnesota will get better deals than what I've mentioned. They won't want to start from scratch again as they have been awful for all but the few years they went to the playoffs with Garnett since the TWolves arrived in the nba.

I'm not buying that Love would make the Warriors a lot better. Scores a lot of points, but could take the ball away from others. Rebounds, but plays no defense. At best you're just getting a more selfish David Lee with a little higher stat line. But certainly doesn't improve our points in the paint. It would be much better to get a LA, or someone that can plays both ends of the floor instead of putting up stats. Love had a decent squad this year and still failed to make the playoffs. I think he hardly solves our problems. We're a defensive group.

Love is available, no other star PF is right now. Love may not play the defense that well yet, but he hasn't exactly been incentivated by the TWolves' coaching staff that haven't preached defense. MJackson has and does and the team was third in the nba this season. Love can only improve in that facet by coming here. What Love gives offensively is what makes him the best PF in the nba right now, along with his amazing rebounding. The team would improve by leaps with his ability to score and pass, that is better than Lee, who is among the best offensive and passing PFs there is. The fact he shoots the three point shoot just adds to the team.
