Certainly looks like he may not recover to be anything like what he was. Absolute shame as he was a total superstar and would have definately been right behind Jordan as the Bulls second best ever. Heat have it easier now and only looks like the Pacers can matchup out east.

So far, after the first month, some real surprises in the nba, the biggest to me being Portland so good. I admit I hadn't looked much at their team because they certainly are built well enough, especially their top seven or eight players, to be a playoff team at least. Still think they will fall and are overachieving but real good for them.

Didn't realise Westbrook would be back so early, thought he'd be out at least a month and a half with the injury he had. Since he got back very early in the season, think OKC will be right there with the Spurs at around 60 games at season's end.

Lakers keep finding ways to be decent enough. Really thought finally they'd have a bad season but again they do enough to be over 50%. Makes you think that they might rise to be top 4 in the West when Kobe gets back.

Houston is rising and looking for real. Still think they'll fall a bit and won't be a powerhouse but they could well be. Seems like they do better without Harden and with Dwight not being much of a star, a good sign for them as others seem to be stepping up.

GSW just hasn't been anything different to past seasons. Potential is there but right now the team has been pretty good and that's it, definately not up to expectations. That hopefully will change but I'm personally not impressed and actually a little disappointed.

The fact that Pacers are 16-1 is a surprise. Great start. Hibbert and George should be allstars. Stevenson is ripping through this. West is playing above average. Hopefully they get a healthy Granger off the bench and win the east.

So far this season only 3 teams in the Eastern Conference have records of .500 or above and only 3 teams in the West have records less than .500

The Pacer should trade Granger, if he has any good value right now. Either that or play him alot and try to trade him, because he will not accept a back role and George is a SF not a SG, as he has shown the last two seasons, flourishing without Granger. Maybe they could get a real good backup or two for him, because he will start for another team and likely be a key player for that other team.

The West is still much better. One good trade by an east team, bringing one or two good players from the West over there and that team could catapult up the win column.

Going into the new year the team has not performed as expected but the record is pretty good, seventh place and only two games behind fourth and fifth Clips and Rockets, four games behind second and third place Spurs and Blazers and six games behind leading Thunder.

With six more games left on the current east trip, the team is facing bad teams, only Miami and Brooklyn having talented teams and Brooklyn is not well at all. If the team can win at least four of the these six games, they'll definately be set to move up the standings the rest of January.

Wow, Deng traded to the Cavs for Bynum. Great trade for Cleveland. Fills a position of need for them and gets rid of a bad locker room presence for a great locker room presence which the young Cavs badly need. Ticks all the boxes. I also think Deng will re-sign with the Cavs.

Bulls wanted to get rid of Deng anyway and free some money. Cavs should start climbing the standings and could well be one of the best east teams for a few years.

Bad teams lack foresight, such as the Cavs.

BF, are you saying that Deng is a bad trade for Cavs? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts as no doubt you'll have stats to support your view.

Its not a bad trade for the Cavs. Get rid of the cancer in bynum and received something. And if the Kings suck for 3 more seasons, they only will give 2nd round picks.

Cavs could really move to be one of the best teams in the East. They needed some proven experience as well.

They gave up draft picks for a player that's not likely to re-sign. Deng is a great player and helps them, but there is no foresight on this.

I'd be surprised if he stays unless they give him an albatross contract.

BTW, Durant is the MVP of the first half of the season. Just my opinion. He went off for 46. Dude is on fire lately.
