2012-2013 Coach of the Year

George Karl has won the COTY award which I think is fair enough. The Nuggets had a great season. But I don't understand how Erik Spoelstra polled 24 first round votes and Greg Popovich polled 11 first round votes. Now I'm a massive fan of Popovich. I think he's a great coach but I could probably coach the Spurs or Heat to the playoffs with the rosters that they have. I know people are critical of Mark Jackson's coaching but the guy got this team to play defence and he got this team to the playoffs, exceeding most analysts expectations.
This was well-deserved. I'm sure part of it was a lifetime achievement award because Karl DESERVES to have a coach-of-the-year on his resume, but a strong argument can be made for him as the best coach this year, especially considering he got 57 wins out of a team without a bona fide #1 option.
