What a frickin' stud. He should be handed the Cy Young award for pitching this well on such a horrid team. I mean, look at these numbers:
15-3 record. 2.43 ERA. 1.18 WHIP. 210-70 strikeouts-walks.
And he only just hit 24.
So where will his career go? Will he end up like Oswalt, or will he become one of the Giants' greats? I do know one thing... he's going to take the pressure off of Matt Cain in the coming years, hopefully providing the team with one of the best 1-2 guys in the game. Add in Sanchez and that's a good place to start building.

Not to mention guys like Posey, Villalona, and possibly Rafael Rodriguez coming up that could turn into hitters. I think in about 3 years, this team could be pretty good. Plus there is Alderson and Bumgardner in the minors.

timmy is now officially leading the nl cy young race

Thank you Brandon Webb. Lincecum should win NL Cy Young if he keeps this up. Cliff Lee should get AL Cy Young honors.
BTW, is Timmy have a little Filipino in him? Because I heard his grandpa is Filipino. Don't hate yourself in the morning... sleep 'til noon.

great performance tonight by the franchise. as AZ continues to roll over and die, the better timmy's chances!
"Losing is inevitably close to winning," Guber said. "They're inches apart. Drama. If you have drama, you've got a ticket to sell." "They're not real fans," Lacob said. "They don't have season tickets."

if timmy reaches 20 wins (how many starts does he have left? too lazy to calculate it out) and maintains this era, hes the automatic winner
if he messes up in his last few starts and webb has a sub-3 era, it's webb's basically its in tim's hands now |

timmy can taste the cy young...cc's out of the equation now that he got a loss on his record
never would have thought the tiny flicker of hope would become so tangible |
|
if he wins the next two games he is guaranteed Cy Young... I already believe that he has earned the Cy Young... but people can overlook webbs wins... So I just hope regardless of what happens with Tims last two starts that he earns his Cy Young in just his 2nd year.
THATS OUR FUTURE RIGHT THERE

There goes the Cy Young and there goes any chance of me going to the home series finale against the Dodgers.

You really think the one loss will cost Lincecum the cy young?
Check it: Strikeouts: 1. Lincecum 243 2. Haren 197 11. Webb 170 ERA: 1. Lincecum 2.46 2. Santana 2.65 8. Webb 3.26 Wins: 1. Webb 21 2. Lincecum 17 2. Dempster 17 I'm not sure who's gonna take it from Timmy at this point. Webb because he has more wins but plays on a much better team? StuckInSoCal

It's going to be close but I think the voters are able to see clearly through the numbers. Webb has the wins but the only other category he's even close to Timmy is WHIP (Lincecum 1.15 Webb 1.19). Batting average against is heavily in Timmy's favor as well(Lincecum .220 Webb .241).
Timmy is lights out. Webb is a hell of a picture but other than the scoreless inning stretch he hasn't been night in, night out spectacular. Also factor in the Giants are currently 16 games under 500 (70-86) yet Timmy's 17-4. The Giants would be close to a 100 loss team without him. The D-Backs are hovering around 500 but talent wise are a lot better. They've under achieved after ending April 20-8 The line-up has some boppers and Webb probably doesn't have too many starts where he'll catch an L or ND if he gives up 3 runs. Only an AZ homer would look strictly at Webb's wins and vote for him. It's still up to Timmy to finish with 2 strong starts at home though. |

voters are always easily suckered by 20 game winners, and webb will be well ahead of that mark while timmy's gonna fall short
obviously tim's been the best pitcher, but at this point its hard to tell who the voters would vote for tim's advantage in era should be the deciding factor, but if he blows up in any of his remaining starts, that'll give voters their excuse to pencil webb in no pressure tim |
