OK, here, in SoCal, they play Ol’ Skool jams from time to time, but it’s usually the same 25 or so songs.
I thought the 80’s was the sh*t—and I hate that no station bothers to play more than the same songs over and over again.
Still not sure what happened to all my albums, but feel free to post a song of something you might have in mind and share with others in bringing back memories of like how we used to do it back in the days. This could be Disco, Funk, Soul, Metal, Pop, whatever.
Let’s unearth all the forgotten, but great, Ol’ Skool jams (80's and even some 70’s and 90’s) and post these classics one at a time. As for me, I was recently digging up things on Youtube and finally came across this cut:
The Evasions – Wikka Rap

This was the sh*t, and I played this album full blast every-time I got home from school. “1-2-3-4 get your woman on the floor.” Ha, ha, ha!
I’ll let you post, and I’ll come back with another later. Hope this brings back memories.

That’s what I’m talkin’ ‘bout Speak: Gap Band, Zapp & Roger. That’s some good ol’ throwbacks, right there.
SF, I also dig country, at times, and I like Randy and Toby here. I also like Shania Twain—and my favorite inspirational song is “I hope you Dance” by Leann Womack. As for another Lost Ol' Skool song, and Pure Funk, get a load of this: One Way - Please Mr. Groove / Circa 1984 One of the best Funk songs ever. Simply Naaastehhh! Man, this cut is so nasty, my face still look like I'm smelling dog sh*t! Please, won't you come back: late, great James Brown |

"I Hope You Dance" is a good song. Nice to see somebody other than me who knows it. Encouraging. 2007 - GoldenStWarriors.com "Rookie of the Year"

SF3, “I hope you Dance” is the bomb in inspirational songs. Not that rah, rah, stuff, but this taps more at the core or that inner-force that makes you wanna make things happen. I listen to it over and over again.
And, damn, Jack, you went way, way back on Rufus Thomas - Walkin the Dog. Didn’t know about that jam. Good one! But your second one is unavailable. I’ll stick to my 80’s and Funk for now. Rick James - Ghetto Life. This was also the sh*t. Def. haven't heard them play this. |

I remember Mannequin, but I can’t believe you like that song? And, Jack, finally you came out with some funk. Great song. Bootsy was the sh*t. As for me, here’s one the baddest man not to get a lot of run like Prince and Morris Day. Bad-ass Jam: And I just recently came across this a great-ass party song, Magazine 60 - Don Quichotte. This is just a breakdancing video version, but it's pretty funny. Check out 1:48 |
