You always use your assets as a means to obtain other better assets and what happened with Jamison wasn't that. Mullin could have done better.
Things have ended up alright though

The Jamison trade was exclusively for cap reasons. The Warriors were not interested in Van Exel in their long term, but couldn't find any other taker for Jamison's max contract.

That was a way of getting better while getting less in the trade. I'm glad they did it, even though Jamison was my favorite Warrior at that time.

Do u guys realize that they traded jamison because they drafted dunleavy, and now they might trade dunleavy cause they drafted pietrus.

Well, until somebody fits, why keep them? Antawn didn't further the team, Mike's not fitting in the offense, and Mickael might not step up the way we want him to... small forward is our 2nd weakest spot (behind the 5 spot).

But I doubt they'd trade Mickael. Even if he can't play the 3, he's a great backup at the 2 for JRich.

Are you saying that Chris Mullin didn't trade Antawn to free up cap room? Of course he did. And then, along the way, once the cap room lowered, he could afford to trade for Baron Davis, right? Of course. So what's to disagree about here? Antawn = Baron, in the long run. I don't see how else you can see it...

If he doesn't ask for too much money...........

If he isn't good enough to be the starting SF, he has to settle for bench player's money or he will be traded

Yes, Mullin ended up getting Baron but that wasn't a certainty when he traded Jamison. I just like to trade great players for equal talent at the time and not lesser talent with the idea of trading again for a great player down the road. It works sometimes but you have to count on another team giving you more talent than what you give them and that is not always possible. I reckon Mullin could have got more Jamison and still have ended up with Baron, cap room or no cap room. Don't forget that almost every team is over the salary cap, it doesn't matter

Or getting that talent in free agency, the way the Hawks did it with Joe Johnson (even though they had to pay), or the way Nuggets made their current team.

Well, St. Jean wasn't that bad, at least he was the one who picked J-Rich & Murphy. He made some mistakes, but not everything was bad.

Dwarfdick, on the other side...
