I was at the Sharks game (Cheechoo OH MY GOD) so I missed pretty much the entire draft. Doesn't look like too many surprises from the niners or raiders standpoint. Niners trade down and save some money. Looks like Cedric Wilson in his 3rd year will be the veteran of our receiving corps.
I wonder what SD did to turn off Eli so much, its one of the best places to live and he wanted no part of it.

Thanks for all of the updates Bob.
You trade down, just to trade down again? It's sort of funny in a twisted kind of way. That said, the 49ers have had a pretty decent draft so far. Rashaun Woods will go great alongside Brandon Lloyd, and Hamilton is good raw talent. They also picked up some help on the O-Line and in the secondary. Not bad going into Day 2...
Raiders picked up some monsters along the offensive line in Grove and Gallery, just nasty. Drafting Schweigert and adding Ray Buchanon to the saftey positions should help as well. Also you can't forget about two guys named Washington and Sapp on the D-Line.
On the Sharks...
Cheechoo and Marleau have been amazing. Nabokov has stopped just about everything. Who would have thought they'd be in this position after last year? Great time to be a Sharks fan.

the warriors did it a few years ago. turned out pretty well, at least until last offseason.
about the niners, it seems like their trading down worked out ok. there wasn't an obvious stud wr at 16 (reggie williams might've been there had mike williams been allowed in the draft) and they were set on getting a wideout, so it wasn't a terrible move. we'll see how it works out. the niners have a bad recent draft history, i hope this one turns it around.

i remember the niners wasting a 4th round pick on a kicker a few years ago. chandler kicked in what, about 5 games before getting cut by the worst kicking team in the league? it shouldnt be nearly this hard to find a competent kicker and a competent punter.
it wasn't LaFleur's kicking last year that was so horrible as was his holding. His holding and Pochman's kicking pretty much single-handedly knocked us out of the playoff race last year.
Of course if we weren't so cheap and replaced Chandler with a veteran kicker in the first place......

imo, thats on the coaching staff. holding is not that hard of a job, and they should be able to find someone that can do it competently. isn't it usually a backup qb doing the holding anyway (better hands plus the ability to run fake fgs)? anyone who doesn't have dampier's hands should be able to hold adequately.
Great game by the Sharks, nice way to grind it out . The dive near the end by Cheechoo to stop the puck was excellent. 3-0 Sharks!
And on LaFleur should've left with Pochman. He always seemed to shank pressure punts, that along with the FG and extra point holds, ick.
Viva la...Andy Lee?
Eh.
