KNOWING
***small spoiler below***
I'll keep this review short, it's a little better than "the day the earth stood still" but still doesn't even qualify as descent.
Story has a shiit load of holes and just doesn't make much sense. They TRY and weave way too much into the basic story:
Aliens with supernatural powers
A father/son bonding. Nick cage to his son "I will never let you die" = stupidest line of the movie
Science versus Religion
the Apocalypse
child profits
"symbolic" black stones that have no explanation
the lonely professor that doesn't get out much.
aliens abductions / saving humans
Special effects scenes are alright but theres about 5mins of cool destruction scenes, so don't get too hyped.
it makes no logical sense towards then end.you leave the movie saying either one of two words: "Huh?" or "What?". Even if you're just in it for the special effects (which I was) it's very hard not to be distracted by the obvious holes in the plot. I think they were going for mysterious but they just failed... badly.
watch it when it comes out on video and don't expect much more than "the day the earth stood still" in terms of entertainment.
1.5 stars out of five

FRIDAY THE 13TH SERIES - 1 to 11
Starring - JASON VOORHEES Friday the 13th (1980): The first installment, in what ended up being a very long successful series, was made in 1980 and you can tell by the people - hair, clothes, sex scenes, everything Basic short summary of story is that a boy names Jason Voorhees drowned at Camp Crystal Lake in 1957, while two counsellors were having sex instead of watching the boy. the following year another two counsellors, who were about to have sex go figure, are brutally murdered. Setting then moves to the same location in 1980 and the dreaded camp is reopen. All the counsellors who attend the camp are killed and it ends up being Jason's mum who, seemingly semi-possessed by Jason, kills them all, except for one woman, counsellor, Alice who survives to tell the tale that noone believes. Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981): The first film was obviously successful enough for the filmmaker to make a second one and obviously that did alright as well as this series in one of the longest ever. Same deal as the first film, but Jason does all the killing everyone, same with all the films actually As the first film did, there are a few sex scenes that show a fair bit. Good to see things thirty years ago were pretty open Friday the 13th Part 3 (1982): This is set straight after part 2, as Jason survived Paul and Ginny and did not die as was first thought. The cunnt never dies. Jason kills alot of people (big surprise), in such ways including - spear shot to eye, sliced in half while walking on hands, knifed from under a hammock) thrown on fuse box and electrocuted, impaled with fireplace poker and squeeze head until eyes pop out. A real versatile murder this guy is. The only survivor is yet again another woman, Chris, who coincidently, was attacked by an unmasked Jason two years before in the forrest of Camp Crystal Lake, but managed to run away from him. Jason's body is taken to the town morgue. Friday the 13th Part 4 - The Final Chapter (1984): Not the last chapter as there was another seven films made after this one. Jason still doesn't die and kills more people, low and behold, he still has not had enough. More counsellors decide to have a councellors camp at Crystal Lake (also known as Camp Blood) and Jason kills them all except a pretty nice looking bich and her little brother Tommy Jarvis, who takes part in a couple of future films in the series. Plenty of skinny diping and naked scened, a good reason to watch the film Friday the 13th Part 5 - A New Beginning (1985): New beginning, same old shiit, Jason killing everyone. Jason is dug up from his grave by two fools that Jason thanks by killing them. The film is set a few years in the future, as Tommy Jarvis is not a boy anymore but an adult man. He has night mares and sees Jason in hallucinations. He wants to killJason once and for all and decides to join a center for people who have mental problems, located near Crystal Lake. Jason kills everyone except for a woman, boy and Tommy, who kill Jason in a barn. One sex scene with a pretty nice bich. Friday the 13th Part 6 - Jason Lives (1986): What do you know, Jason lives, YET AGAIN! Hey fuk it, if the films make money, keep them going. Tommy Jarvis wants to make sure Jason is dead so he digs him up to destroy the body. A lightning strike brings Jason back to life and he starts killing again, that's all he knows after all. Tommy tells the local sheriff about Jason, but he doesn't believe him and when people start going missing, he thinks Tommy is responsible some how. Jason kills a group playing paint ball shooting, a drunken old fart, a newly married couple, young and old, with a variety of weapons and techniques, as he is known for, like machette, broken glass, knife, head squeeze and a few others ofcourse. Tommy ends up killing Jason by tying a large rock to a steel chain and putting this around Jason's body, then throwing him off the small boat they were both on and Jason stays under water, unable to get free and supposedly dead. The only survivors are Tommy, the sheriff's daughter, who Tommy gets in a tongue twist with (there's always some sexual content in this series of films) and the little kids who were at the camp. At least the producers were good enough to not have kids getting killed. Friday the 13th Part 7 - The New Blood (1988): Yep, still going, Jason just won't fukin die. A psychic/telekinetic power able girl (basically can levitate things with the power of her mind, lke star wars and using the force) kills her father when she is just a girl, because he hits her mother when he gets angry. She is somewhat haunted by this when she is an adult. She goes to the lake at Camp Crystal Lake and while remembering the time where she killed her father, at a lake by dropping a wooden structure that was part of their house on him, she frees Jason from the chain and he rises from the lake floor to kill again. Jason kills everyone, couples, singles, men and women, young and old, he likes noone. Tina ends up taking on Jason and electricutes him, throws couches, wood, plants and nails at him, all with her mind power. She then thows gasoline on him and puts him on fire. The house blows up, Tina and a guy called Nick, run out of the house in time. Jason, still does not die and as he goes to kill Tina and Nick on the edge of the lake and Tina's long dead father comes out of the lake and takes Jason down with him. That's a strange ending. Friday the 13th Part 8 - Jason Takes Manhattan (1989): What's left for Jason, the kill loving wannker hasn't rampaged all over New York yet! Get to it Jason. Jason comes out of the water and starts killing by going on a ship where graduating students are on and he kills in a variety of ways, like smacking with steel pipe and jabbing hot coal in the sauna into a guy's gut. Five people get off the shiponto a row boat and row away, as Jason has killed the rest. They reach New York and Jason has followed them, seemingly by walking along the sea floor, as he has no boat. Jason follows Rennie, who almost drowned at Crystal Lake herself, and her boyfriend Sean, the only survivors, onto a train and he survivors getting electricuted on the tracks. The fight goes to the sewer where Jason keeps stalking the two and they finally get rid of him when the sewers flood and Jason is melted by the acid. Friday the 13th Part 9 - Jason Goes To Hell (1993): Jason is back, again. A group from the FBI has planned a trap for Jason. They get a hot woman agent to go to Crystal Lake, to an abandoned house and Jason must have smelt her because he attacks moments after she arrives there. She takes her clothes off to go to the shower, best thing about Friday 13th films is the nakedness of the biches Friday the 13th Part 10 - Jason X (2001): Jason comes back yet again, this time in the distant future. In 2008, Jason is finally captured, must have escaped hell. Jason is held inside a government research facility whose scientists try to find out why he won't die. Once Rowan, leader of the research project, prepares the Jason for cryogenic suspension, a greedy scientist goes over her head and comes to remove Jason, only to get killed by him, the rest of his buddies as well. Tricking Jason into following her, Rowan eludes him into entering the cryogenic freezer and begins the process, but a breach in the system causes her to freeze with him. The film is then taken to the future, set in the year 2455, where a team of young students descends onto the ruined Earth, where they find the frozen bodies of Jason and Rowan in the forgotten research facility and take back on board their ship with them. Rowan is thawed and revived, but the team mistakes Jason to be dead. Before long, Jason awakens to the sound of young people having premarital sex once again (happens in every film Friday the 13th Part 11 - Freddy v Jason (2003): Freddy Krueger is desperate to terrorize the teenagers of Elm St. once again, but he can't since the parents of Springwood have found a way to make the kids forget about him while doping them up with dream suppressant. He resurrects Jason Voorhees and sends him off to kill. The more bodies which fall to the ground, the stronger in which Freddy becomes. When Jason won't stop killing Freddy's "children," Krueger decides it's time to take Voorhees out. Two teenage survivors, Will and Lori, get Jason back to Camp Crystal Lake and Freddy out of the dream world for both of them to kill each other and they do, both returning to hell. Eleven fukin movies! I liked them all to varying degrees, as this story was unique all those years ago and the nude scenes were great Won't give a rating because so many movies but for those that like horror and killing, these films might entertain you ![]() ![]() migya make the ring fall on ya |

Well, years ago............. Let's just say I liked Fridays and Saturday nights ![]() ![]() migya make the ring fall on ya |

Nope. Did you hear about them bringing back Nightmare on Elm Street? Except, it won't be Robert Englund anymore playing Freddy. Don't hate yourself in the morning... sleep 'til noon.

|
That's just stupid, as is doing a remake of Friday 13th.They should come up with another idea, similar even, but not bring back old stories, though it might well work and sell well, as many people of the 1980s generation might well want to see it ![]() ![]() migya make the ring fall on ya |
|
Well, it's not a remake. Friday the 13th wasn't a remake of the series, either. It was a continuation. Nightmare on Elm Street is going to be a continuation of the series as well. The only thing that's changed/changing are the new actors for Jason and Freddy. Don't hate yourself in the morning... sleep 'til noon.

Oh, alright, I thought the Friday 13th movie that just came out was not a continuation, but like just one movie about the subject, not intended to be in or part of any series, but a movie on its own. The Friday the 13th series has been very successful, with a large following, so they'll likely have success with this latest movie as well. The actors that played Jason Vorhees were not always the same man, there have been about four or five different ones, strangely enough ![]() ![]() migya make the ring fall on ya |

I finally saw Pursuit of Happiness and it is one of the most touching movies I've seen in quite some time. Just hit me hard that story. I really look at my life and realise that things could be so much worse and that I've got more than most people in the world do, as many live in poverty. Doesn't mean you shouldn't want more, just don't be consumed by that want and don't abuse people to get what you want, unless ofcourse you're into fuking whores, guess they're made to be abused ![]() ![]() migya make the ring fall on ya |

Pursuit of Happyness hit the spot. It is probably Will Smith's best performance as an actor. The story is really motivating and enlightening. Just goes to show that we should be happy to be living the way we do compared to how Chris Gardner did and to never give up when things get real rough.
I haven't seen it yet, but "I Love You, Man" has had some really good reviews. And I didn't enjoy "2 Fast 2 Furious" or "Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift," but I did enjoy the first installment of the series and can't wait to see the whole original cast return to the latest installment coming out next Friday. Terminator Salvation and Transformers 2 are two things I want to see. From the looks of it and from what my friends said, Street Fighter is TERRIBLE. The preview already looked bad enough when I saw it. I loved the video game growing up, and the new one is pretty cool, too. And the same goes for Dragonball. That movie looks fugly. Damn you Hollywood. Has anyone seen Transporter 3? I've been wanting to see that. Jason Stratham was perfect for the role. While the first two movies weren't "HOLY SH*T" type reaction, they were good for what they were. I enjoyed them both. Don't hate yourself in the morning... sleep 'til noon.
