Dog Claimed World's Oldest Dies at 30
Apr 19, 2016 12:32 PM ET // by Discovery News
http://news.discovery.com/animals/pets/dog-claimed-worlds-oldest-dies-at-30-160419.htm

An Australian kelpie named Maggie took her last breath April 16, at the ripe old age of 30, according to The Weekly Times Now.

The geriatric sheepdog lived on a dairy farm in Victoria, Australia.

“She just went downhill in two days, and I said yesterday morning when I went home for lunch: ‘She hasn’t got long now,’” Maggie’s owner Brian McLaren told the publication.

Metro U.K. reports that McLaren lost Maggie’s original paperwork, so official verification that she was indeed the oldest dog won’t happen anytime soon.

To date, Guinness World Records list another dog from Australia, a 29-year-old cattle dog named Bluey, as the oldest dog on record. Bluey lived from 1910 until 1939.

According to this report from 7 News Melbourne in November 2015, Maggie spent her time on the farm alongside 30 cats, sleeping roughly half of the day. At the time, she was deaf but otherwise seemed in good health.

“When I come to work every day, I poke her, just to be sure she’s still breathing,” McLaren told the station.

EXCLUSIVE: Twitter Shadowbanning ‘Real and Happening Every Day’ Says Inside Source
http://www.breitbart.com/tech/2016/02/16/exclusive-twitter-shadowbanning-is-real-say-inside-sources/

Rumours that Twitter has begun ‘shadowbanning’ politically inconvenient users have been confirmed by a source inside the company, who spoke exclusively to Breitbart Tech. His claim was corroborated by a senior editor at a major publisher.

According to the source, Twitter maintains a ‘whitelist’ of favoured Twitter accounts and a ‘blacklist’ of unfavoured accounts. Accounts on the whitelist are prioritised in search results, even if they’re not the most popular among users. Meanwhile, accounts on the blacklist have their posts hidden from both search results and other users’ timelines.

Our source was backed up by a senior editor at a major digital publisher, who told Breitbart that Twitter told him it deliberately whitelists and blacklists users. He added that he was afraid of the site’s power, noting that his tweets could disappear from users’ timelines if he got on the wrong side of the company.

Shadowbanning, sometimes known as “Stealth Banning” or “Hell Banning,” is commonly used by online community managers to block content posted by spammers. Instead of banning a user directly (which would alert the spammer to their status, prompting them to create a new account), their content is merely hidden from public view.

For site owners, the ideal shadowban is when a user never realizes he’s been shadowbanned.

However, Twitter isn’t merely targeting spammers. For weeks, users have been reporting that tweets from populist conservatives, members of the alternative right, cultural libertarians, and other anti-PC dissidents have disappeared from their timelines.

Among the users complaining of shadowbans are sci-fi author and alt-right figurehead Vox Day, geek culture blogger “Daddy Warpig,” and the popular pro-Trump account Ricky Vaughn. League of Gamers founder and former World of Warcraft team lead Mark Kern, as well as adult actress and anti-censorship activist Mercedes Carrera, have also reported that their tweets are not appearing on the timelines of their followers.

The pattern of shadowban reports, which skews towards the alt-right, the populist right, and cultural libertarians, follows close on the heels of Twitter’s establishment of a “Trust and Safety Council” packed with left-wing advocacy groups, as well as Islamic research centre the Wahid Institute.

It also follows my prediction that Twitter would use its influence to interfere in the 2016 presidential election by muffling conservative voices on the platform.

For close to a year now, Breitbart has covered Twitter’s march towards political censorship. In May 2015 Allum Bokhari reported that the site had begun to experiment with shadowbans, ostensibly to protect users from abuse. Then, as now, it was suspected that “protecting users from abuse” was an excuse to implement a system that would later be used for political censorship.

With shadowbans now confirmed by an inside source, there is little room for doubt that the platform is intent on silencing conservatives. Furthermore, it has demonstrated a complete lack of regard for transparency, concealing its shadowbanning system from users and hiding its political bias behind a veneer of opposition to online abuse. (In reality, the site turns a blind eye to abuse from left-wingers.)

Users in search of a transparent, politically unbiased platform will soon have to find — or build — an alternative.

Woman says Yellowstone tourists put baby bison in their car because it was 'cold'
http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Yellowstone-tourists-put-baby-bison-in-car-7469642.php

In clear violation of the 'Leave No Trace' policy, tourists at Yellowstone National Park picked up a baby bison and put it in their car, according to one woman.

Karen Richardson of Victor, Idaho was visiting the scenic park last week when she saw a man and his son roll up to a ranger station with a baby bison in the back of their SUV.

"They were demanding to speak with a ranger," Richardson told EastIdahoNews.com. "They were seriously worried that the calf was freezing and dying."

Bison have existed in the wild for millions of years but sure, that baby really needed human intervention.

According to witnesses, the man was insistent that he was being helpful. Luckily, park rangers — who are actually helpful — took the baby bison back to where it was found and released it. No word on if the mother was waiting there to give the tourists a piece of her mind.

Yellowstone Park policy prohibits visitors from approaching wildlife, a warning that apparently some people really, really need.

The Clintons, uranium and the Oregon shootout: Report addresses unasked questions
http://www.worldtribune.com/the-clintons-uranium-and-the-oregon-shootout-report-addresses-unasked-questions/

An investigative report has posited a connection between Bill and Hillary Clinton, uranium and the recent shootout between federal agents and protesting ranchers in Oregon.

The standoff between Oregon residents and the feds at the Mahleur National Wildlife Refuge, which left one protester dead, was widely-reported but the uranium-Clinton connection was overlooked until Jon Rappaport’s recent report.

“What does this have to do with Hillary and Bill Clinton?,” he asked.

‘The short version is: there’s a case to be made that they, through Uranium One and the Clinton Foundation, facilitated the sale of Uranium One to Putin and the Russians. And if so, and if this area of Oregon is projected to be part of that uranium mining deal, then we are looking at a stunning ‘coincidence’: the U.S. federal government is coming down hard on a group of protesters who are occupying, for their own reasons, a very valuable piece of territory that goes far beyond the issue of private cattle grazing on government land.”

The Clinton connection between uranium and Oregon began with a deal approved under then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that transferred 20 percent of U.S. uranium production to Russia – and tied it to the geographical location of a proposed uranium mine in Oregon.

Rappoport writes: “On April 23, 2015, the NY Times ran a story under the headline, ‘Cash Flowed to Clinton Foundation Amid Russian Uranium Deal.’ The bare bones of the story: a Canadian company called Uranium One controls a great deal of uranium production in the U.S. It was sold to Russia (meaning Putin and his minions). So Putin now controls 20 percent of U.S. uranium production. From the Times: ‘…the sale gave the Russians control of one-fifth of all uranium production capacity in the United States.’ ”

According to the New York Times article, leaders of the Canadian mining industry made several charitable donations to the various “endeavors of former President Bill Clinton and his family,” including a total of $31.3 million from mining financier Frank Giustra, and then sold the Russians a company later dubbed Uranium One. As the Times reported, the sale of Uranium One to Putin required State Department approval, because uranium is considered a strategic asset – and then-Secretary Clinton granted the approval.

“The U.S. State Dept. had to sign off on the deal giving Putin control over U.S. uranium. Hillary headed up the State Dept. Much money from Canadian mining executives, who obviously wanted the deal to go through, found its way into the Clinton Foundation. The Foundation concealed these donations,” according to Rappaport’s investigation.

Rappoport added: “Is uranium at the heart of the … standoff? That’s the question I’m asking. It isn’t a flippant question. I realize there are many other issue swirling around this event … This article isn’t meant to take apart those matters.”

A U.S. Bureau of Land Management notation titled, “Uranium on BLM-Administered Lands in OR/WA,” discusses a May 2012 presentation from Oregon Energy LLC to develop a uranium oxide mine, in concert with the Department of Fish and Wildlife, in “southern Malheur County in southeastern Oregon,” Rappoport wrote.
