Right and look how it turned out for LA. Im not sure there was a better deal for AI....regardless it doesnt make any sense to trade for less talent just because the guy is in the other conference. If the talent is even then yea why not, but if the talent is not even your just shooting yourself in the foot. I think the real reason Shaq and AI didnt get traded in their respective divisions is because other teams didnt want to make LA or Philly that much better. Especially with Kobe in LA. You trade KG or Dirk for Shaq and Lakers are a Dynasty. Think about it Lakers didnt turn down anything that much better than what Miami offered, same with Philly.
Again these superstars have a say in where they go and those places are usually limited to HUGE markets or places they can win right away.
