With the breakout season of Andris Biedrins, its clear that Don Nelson is more than willing to make room for an athletic big man that can run the floor. Griffin is about as athletic as they come for a big guy; plus, he can hit the occasional 3, he's a solid rebounder, and he's a monster (read: better than Biedrins) shot-blocker.

Nelly's been trying to get Monta Ellis point guard minutes all season. Moving Monta permanently to the point spot would give more swingman time to our talented bench... and make Jasikevicius expendable. I say, we send Roony out to Minnesoda (where they've lacked a serious shooting threat since the departure of Wally) in exchange for Justin Reed (who we'd waive) and Eddie Griffin.

Alternatively, Griffin's contract expires after this season... so we could probably get him for cheap on the free agent market.

Griffin would finally fill the role for Biedrins' backup. Plus, he's perfect for the Nelly-ball system.

Any buyers? :thumbleft:

great minds think alike

We, while getting worse talentwise, would have no holes in our lineup. The timberpuppies would improve too.

I said this before jackson had played for us (IE before I saw how good jackson was) but yeah, I'd say sarunas would be a fair deal for griffin and reed, because the wolves aren't using the shotblocking machine at all. The only think I'm not sure about is playing monta at the point perennially; I'd almost rather include stephen jackson in the trade (because the jackson trade, even though it works, it trims a lot of salary and we have enough swingmen) although jackson might be a little too much to give up for a backup expirer

I'd rather never see Monta at point guard... but Nelly seems insistant on it. Giving up Jackson would definately be a bit harder to swallow than giving up Roony. Especially when you consider how amazing the starting lineup is with Stephen Jackson in it. I hate trading starters for bench players (which is what Griffin would, ultimately, be), so I'd have to say no to that. But Griffin for Roony? No doubt about it.

Well, there's been rumors that the Wolves were thinking about releasing Griffin. So no need to trade. I'd say wait out to see what happens to him.

I like Eddie Griffin also and think that if he has to be traded for, the TWolves would accept O'bryant for him. If he is going to be a freeagent then offer something reasonable to him and have him as a backup at both PF and Center. No need to get rid of anyone worthwhile that is already here for Griffin

Yeah, seems like the T-Wolves are going to cut the Jerk Machine soon. No need to trade for him... We can add him later if we offer him a contract til the end of the season. That would solve our need for a backup PF.

I'm not ready to give up O'Bryant. Regardless of our different opinions on him, we can all agree the kid has potential. I, personally, would like to see him pan out some more. Lets decide his fate in a couple more years.

But as for signing Griffin, I'd probably be down (as long as he's not asking for any outrageous, out-of-bounds amount of money... we need to sign Biedrins and Ellis first and foremost).

It is the same one.

The same guy who blocked 5 and a half shots per 48 (second only to Zo) last season.

Besides being a better shot-blocker, I don't really how he will be that much better than Powell...
