GSW - trade Murphy, Dunleavy and Fisher

Bobcats - trade Gerald Wallace and future 1st round pick

Advantages for GSW - gets some cap space, gets a player who can actually defend (and score when need be), no murphy = increased playing time for young big men on the team, getting rid of fisher gives monta more playing time. 1st round pick always comes in handy

Advantages for Bobcats - get some stability in their team (all 3 players in long contracts), no decent fa's would want to sign with bobcats anyway right now, murphy n okafor in frontcourt sounds good to me, get good guard in fisher.

reasons why this could work - bobcats have a lot of capspace, dont have many decent players, gsw needs a good defender.

reasons why this may not work - bobcats have a lot of frontcourt players (although most of em aint that good), fisher more of a pg and bobcats already got felton n knight in that position

Um... this sounds possible, minus Dunleavy and Fisher.

True, most Warrior fans would love to clear out their (Dun & Fish's) cap space, but Mullin's only looking to shop Murphy... and, frankly, adding Fisher and Dunleavy (whether or not people admit it) is vastly over-paying. Wallace' athleticism and decent play (along with solid defensive contributions) would be welcomed in Golden State... but he's no franchise player. In fact, migya is making a case in another thread that those 3 players could be combined for Kevin Garnett. Way too much talent for simply GWallace.

I'd welcome Murphy & a second rounder for Wallace & a first anyday, but adding the other two is pushing it...

GWallace had one good breakout year for the lowly Bobcats and you are thinking about trading the whole team for him!!!....Are you freakin crazy or what???...Maybe if you make that 1st round pick an unprotected lottery pick then maybe!!!

I'd love it, but makes absolutely no sense for the Bobcats.

Let's see: they have Okafor and Sean May, both PFs (and Okafor is better than Murphy), so they don't need Murphy. Their pg of the future is Ray Felton, so they don't need Fish (he'd be a backup), and they'd be getting Dun to play in Gerald's spot. All that while giving us a top 5 round pick.

Also, they would be screwing all their cap room with the trade.

If the Bobcats make this trade, all the front office should be fired ASAP.

what u talkin about the 'whole team', dunleavy sucks and fishers not gonna get any better than he is now (he's 32 now ffs). wallace has proved in both seasons with the hornets that he can defend well, something gsw needs more of since we already got enough guys who can score anyways

okafor could play C but then that kinda defeats the purpose of drafting may.

and these guys for KG? McHale is prolly seriously stupid enough to make a trade like that

doesn't work cap wise, but I would do it in a heartbeat, it would rid us of 3 horrible contracts in one swoop

You clearly have no concept of the collective bargaining agreement. Read up on it then suggest some trades. Look at my Paul Pierce trade. One feature of my PP trade is J-Rich goes. That is an important feature and the only way the W's do ANY trade this off-season. If J-Rich isn't made available than NO MOVES WILL BE MADE. Understand this: If J-Rich is not made available than the current team is the same team we will have for the next 3-4 years with NO CHANGES. Does that sound good for everybody? No GM will take any other contract if J-Rich isn't included. I don't like it, but do the math. Who covets Murphy? Or Adonal or Fisher or Dunleavy or even Baron? MANY teams covet J-Rich and because of that we may be able to move a slew of other big contracts if his is included.

Jimminy_Jillikers Gerald Wallace never did play for the Hornets he came over from Sac. Sac was the team that drafted him and the Bobcats choose him in their expansion draft...So your info. is all wrong!!!

Wallace never even got playing time when he played for the Kings...But now he's recieving alot of garbage time for the Bobcats since Okafor is out...That's the reason why he's having a breakout out year...they got nobody else to go to!!!

my bad i meant bobcats i'm still stuck in charlotte circa 1990s lol

even last season he showed he could play defense in the BOBCATS. this trade may look bad from first glance but bobcats have the cap space and who the hecks gonna sign for em honestly? they aint gonna get any big name signing for a good 5 years yet and gettin rid of these ok but overpaid players gives us a bt of segway to resign our 4-5 young guys still on rookie contracts

It would work cap wise. The Bobcats get the full cap this offseason, so they'd be able to acquire all those contracts. Why they would do it is another matter...

You are all missing the whole "equal salary for equal salary" aspect of the CBA. You can't just dump a whole bunch of salary off on another team, it's just plain against the rules. You have to get back roughly the same amount of salary you trade away.

Charlotte is roughly $30 million under the cap. They can take all the contracts they want. The "equal salary for equal salary" aspect only counts when the teams can't take the contracts without going over the cap.

Yes, but as you pointed out, TMC, the Bobcats would have absolutely no motivation to do this trade.

Gerald Wallace is a good player (without a huge contract) and they'd be losing him for a player of equal skill (with a huge contract) -aka Murphy - and, on top of that, they'd need to swallow two other huge paychecks and surrender a first round draft pick? Charlotte would need to be dead not to see the screwjob at hand.
