Any help for Monta is good help as his quick development would go well with the team. I'm still not sure whether he will want to stay in the Warriors as a backup for the rest of his career. If he gets real good, other teams will be willing to make him their starting PG and pay him big

Well, until he's proven, he has no choice. He can stand being a backup for 4 or 5 years while Baron's still leading it.

I've got a feeling that Monta is the sort of guy that thinks he is great and he will want to start in 3 years if he improves. That may force Mullin to trade him or Monta might leave as a freeagent

Monta can believe whatever he wants. While he's still under 24, he's expendable. He hasn't proven "greatness" yet, he's just a good backup. Not worth giving the starting job over Baron.

In no way am I saying that he should even be considered over Baron, I just reckon that if it looks like he's going to leave, then Mullin should not let him go for nothing. He sure could be something special Monta Ellis, but he is on the wrong team to do it, unless Baron is not on the Warriors in 4 or 5 years time

Well, that's debateable. He's a good player, sure, and he has the potential to be special, but if he bites the hand that feeds him (I mean, come on, Mullin picked him OUTTA HIGH SCHOOL, late in the 2nd round... he was pretty much not getting drafted if we didn't pick him) and takes off for no reason, than screw him.

I would rather get something back for him if he does leave. Be nice to see him play meaningful minutes off the bench in about 4 seasons. He wil be 23 and Baron will 30 and by the time Baron is 32 or 33, if Monta is still around, the changing of the guard should happen as Monta would be entering his prime

Yes, 5 years down the road, when Baron is D-Fisher's age, it would be nice to transition into the Monta Era... but if Ellis bolts early, then I'd say he's an ungrateful punk.
