Davis doesn't make trip to Denver

DENVER (AP) -- Golden State guard Baron Davis didn't make the trip to Denver for a game Friday night because of a strained muscle in his ribs.
"He'll be out a couple of games for sure," Warriors coach Don Nelson said.
Davis missed the Phoenix game on Monday night because of soreness, but tried to come back against Denver two nights later. Davis played 34 minutes and scored 21 points in the home loss.
However, Nelson could tell the ribs were bothering him when Davis missed an uncontested layup in the fourth quarter.
"He was able to play at a mediocre level, not the dominant level we're used to," Nelson said.
Davis is averaging 20.7 points and 7.9 assists.
"I don't think cautious is the word," Nelson said when asked if they'll bring him along slow. "It's not a major type thing where he'll miss the season if he reinjures it. He was going to try it (Wednesday night) and tried it and it wasn't that successful."
