Did you guys hear about Javon Walker? Hope he will be OK

LAS VEGAS -- Oakland Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker was found unconscious on a Las Vegas street Monday after apparently being the victim of a robbery.

Police spokesman Bill Cassell said in a statement that Walker was taken to a hospital with "significant injuries" after being found early Monday on a street off the Las Vegas Strip.

Cassell said Walker remained in fair condition at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

A Raiders spokesman said the team was "in the process of gathering information" and had no further comment.

Just read that he most likely will be released from the hospital today. Certainly good news.

Yeah, that's messed up. But he should know better to wander around in public like that after all the robberies that have happened to professional athletes in the past couple years. It's just sad that these guys have all of a sudden become targets to rob and steal from.

I dont get why these players continue to be stupid like they are. They have a target on their backs, and they know darn well that they can get robbed, but they go out, regardless. Adam Jones and Tank Johnson make livings out of it. Javon Walker needs to watch himself. Just to show that I am not being biased, I hated Antonio Bryant on the Niners for this same reason... I hate when people are stupid about ungracious about their lives. I dont understand it.

Am I missing something? Is there more information on the story that describes the incident? Why are we assuming he did something wrong or was doing something stupid? He very well may have been but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe he was leaving the casino he was gambling at and was heading to another or back to where he was staying and he got jumped.

Sure athletes should maybe use more discretion but just because he is a professional athlete does not mean he does not have the right to hang out in Vegas like the rest of us.

The story is that he bought $ 15,000 worth of Dom Perignon as was showering people with it...apparently someone viewed that as disrespect. So was (allegedly) doing something stupid, yes...did he deserve to get the hell beat out of him, probably not.

thanks for the additional info sleandres. yeah, certainly that is not worthy of what happened to him.

Vegas is a WILD place and he was probably flashing his cash and jewlery around and made himself a target. But that is what vegas is... at all the elite resorts, people are flashing cash and the like.
