I think its another ridiculous waste of time by the NBA.........and yet another shameless ploy to get more money and exploit the global market.
Yes, it would attract fans, yes it would garner support from around the world...............but its another glorified pick up game (the ASG being the other) For me also, as theres quite alot of focus on the Euro's/Internationals these days (not particularly justfied, its just pandering to the un-tapped or potential markets).........I see this as game that USA are trying to say, "Hey, these Euro's arnt revolutionizing our game, its still our game!" Still Id rather have this quench the NBA's greed a little, than expand to have NBA teams based in Europe (even though that would help me)...........Stern will go wherever the money is, even if its to the detriment of the game and its players. |

Duncan has already played with USA Basketball, so I think you should count him as another american. Replace him with Gasol and you have your teams set.
It would be nice to see a competitive game with those two teams... the problem is that any game between them would be like an All Star... more entertainment than competition. For example, a complete rest of the world roster (and considering Duncan as american) could be: PG.- Nash / Parker / Calderon SG.- Ginobili / Ben Gordon SF.- Dirk / Luol Deng / Stojakovic PF.- Gasol / Kirilenko C.- Yao / Bogut That's only an example. Players like Biedrins, Okur, Dalembert or Turkoglu could also make it... but there's not much depth after those names. I'm not gonna post an american team. There are just too many players to choose from. They could create 3 teams able to beat anybody. |

We're talking about a competitive game, buddy. The idea is to give the american team a fair chance at winning, not humiliate them. |

I find it funny that for a few years people were talking about how the euros would be dominating the league in a few years, now look at all the league's young and/or rising stars:
Chris Paul Monta Ellis Rudy Gay Kevin Durant Lebron James Al Jefferson Dwight Howard LaMarcus Aldridge Josh Smith Deron Williams Brandon Roy Carmelo Anthony Chris Bosh Andre Iguodala Kevin Martin Danny Granger The league is not exactly stacked with foreign youngsters who will pick up the slack once Nash, Dirk, Stojakovic, and Gasol start declining. Amazing how just a couple of years ago it looked like Euros would someday dominate the league and now none of the under-25 year old rising stars are european. ![]() ![]() |

I could add to the list, these foreign players:
Andris Biedrins Andrea Bargnani Leandro Barbosa Luol Deng Linas Kleiza They arent game breakers, but they are talented and will get better. 2007 - GoldenStWarriors.com "Rookie of the Year"

Barbosa is 25 years old (I was listing people under 25, if I get to list 25 year olds I can add Wade, Amare, Arenas, Kaman...) and the rest of those guys, with the exception of possibly Deng, are not likely future stars, which was the criterion for my list. All 16 guys I listed are far ahead of Biedrins and Kleiza and certainly far ahead of Bargnani, who is one of the worst regular players in the league. ![]() ![]() |
