Portugal 2 - Mexico 1.

Tonight, Argentina - Holland. If Holland doesn't win, they'll have to face Portugal in the next round.

Though matchup, no matter who wins. Portugal will probably have the toughest opponent of the next round.

Portugal played passive after their first two goals. It was quite awful the way they played and they will not go far playing like that!

Hope Portugal plays Netherlands, they will have a chance then

That's the only game of Portugal I haven't been able to watch, so I'll take your word. In fact, that's how they played the first two games, knowing they were the better team and trying to win with the minimum effort.

And you got your wish, Argentina and the Netherlands ended 0-0, so, on goal difference, Portugal will play the latest. Great game, tho. I've always been a fan of dutch soccer, so I expect that to be the best game of the next round.

Portugal better not play passive like they have been. I really want them to win but only if they deserve it because they have not in the past. Seems like they did get the bad luck of the draw.

France still may not qualify and that would be good because they are arrogant priks

Australia qualified. :headbang:

It took a late goal by Kewell, but the Socceroos are through to the next round.

Next, Australia - Italy.

btw, after Spain, I've decided to root for the socceroos the rest of the tourneament... F*ck Italy.

Italy will be hard to beat!

Bevery interesting to see who the real great teams end up being. If I was to pick the 4 teams that I thought would end up in the semi finals (I'm not sure what the different paths and matchups to the final are), I'd pick England (though I think they're not as good as many other teams), Germany, Brazil and Argentina

Germany and Argentina will face on quarter-finals, same with Spain - Brazil, and England against the winner of Portugal - Netherlands.

I'll wait till tonight to make my predictions, once we know the full bracket.

The matchups are now set for the second round, so these are my picks for this round:

Germany beats Sweden

Argentina beats Mexico

Italy beats Australia (although Italy is playing so bad that the aussies have an outside chance)

Switzerland beats Ukraine

England beats Ecuador

Portugal beats Netherlands (and this is the toughest matchup by far)

Brazil beats Ghana

Spain beats France (unless we play so bad as we did yesterday)

YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haven't seen the game yet but I'm really happy with the result but yea some players were lost to suspension and Ronaldo may be injured but he does have 6 days to recover.

Spain tonight! Reckon they'll win and the best 8 teams would have advanced I reckon. Australia could beat Italy but unlikley

hahahaha

Be great if Australia won. Apparently there are alot of people in Europe who are pulling for them since they were not expected to do much. Italy is a classic team though and they are used to the big games!

Portugal v Spain game might just happen! Be a neighbour to neighbour battle :) Be great for both countries because it has been a long time since either one has had much soccer success

Yep. But we have to go past France and Brazil first. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

We had the easiest group, but the rest of the way is going to be hell.

Anway, I'd love that to happen. Spain - Portugal in the semis. :D
