Barry Bonds is running out of years, it's only fair to give him a legitimate shot at a ring. John is pricey, but if you think about it Nen's 9 mill contract is gone next year. Plus the Giants said they were willing to pay Maddux at the beginning of this year, that was good for a 6 - 8 mill contract. Right there is 15 million which would cover almost all of RJ's 16 mill contract next year. This year, he gets 5 or 6 mill that's left, but basically that's very cheap for a legit shot at going deep into the playoffs. We'd have a rotation of Schmidt, RJ, Rueter, Williams, and a either Tomko (who has turned it on a bit lately) or Hermanson. Plus in the playoffs you essentially only need 4 starters because of the breaks between games. I think this is something the Giants investors really need to look into.
