Former Warriors update

Since we know them alot better then regular NBA players thought it would be cool to have a thread dedicated to them.

Ex-Warriors Crawford demanding an extenstion or trade from the hawks after putting up decent #'s and winning 6th man of the year award.

Making demands is all the rage now. Chris Paul, Rudy Fernandez, Carmelo Anthony and Jamal Crawford have all made some kind of request to their current team whether it be a trade, a contract extension or both.

Jamal Crawford informed the Hawks last week that he wanted an extension before the new CBA or he wants a trade out of Atlanta. You know, the classic pay-me-or-trade-me move. And as of now, it's looking like an extension for Crawford isn't the Hawks top priority. Michael Cunningham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says Rick Sund plans on focusing on Al Hordford before anything else. The Hawks can offer Horford an extension that starts in 2011-12 and is worth up to $82 million over five years. The deadline for a deal is Oct. 31.

So that means that Crawford very likely is on the market. Cunningham reports at least three teams have asked about Crawford's availability. But here's the twist: Those inquiries were made before the pay-me-or-trade me move. The Hawks said thanks but no thanks and moved on. So if general manager Rick Sund decides trading Crawford is his move, he's got at least three lines he can ring to try and re-establish negotiations.

i am kinda shocked Crawford is having contract demands. The guy FINALLY made the playoffs (in a league where over 50% of teams make it). He just reminds me of a money only guy, who cares nothing about a team or winning.

He picked a bad time to do this IMO, with the Horford deal pending - nobody cares about the other 'ford. Good luck with that Jamal - be sure to re-greet your old friend, irrelevancy and start planning your golf trips in April while playing somewhere stupid like minny!

I know. I felt really mad when we traded this guy for nothing. He seemed like a real team player back then, and a awesome talent. He probably still is, but at least this aliviates some of that anger I felt :)

Crawford trying to get that extension, I don't blame him, but Horford is the Hawks main concern at the moment. Crawford provided an offensive spark but if I was the Hawks I let him play his contract and try to get him next year. Dont see a strong market for Crawford, so competition to retain him won't be too heavy.

Doubt Crawford ever gets more than a MLE. He is who he is. Not someone you want starting, but a great high minutes guy off the bench... if your team can make up for his lack of defense in other areas.

Since we are talking about fomer warriors, update on Joe Smith:

Isn't it funny how a lot of former warriors go somewhere else and have long and decent carriers?
Oh well. At least Joe Smith had his best year here. And Andole Foyle did too.

Yeah, and most of them seem to go out East...definitely a better chance to make the playoffs even at .500 so I guess that's good for them.

Nice little play of the day from Randolph:

Former Warrior Morrow, had a good showing on his preseason opener too. Team high 14 points on 4 of 6 from 3pt, team high 4Steals, with 2 RB, 3 Ast, and 1 BLk, all in 24 minutes. Not bad. So far he looks to be their starting SG.
