For a big guy, Harrington sure plays below the rim a lot. Has he blocked a shot yet? He's had a nuber of his shots blocked by doing dipsy-do moves instead of powering straight up like a true big man.

since this thread was about shooting, you are talking about the same Harrington who scored 30 and 29 points in consecutive games on 70% shooting, right?

The rebounding numbers do; however, Harrington goes to the basket and plays in the paint, too!

The trade snapped Murphy out of his funk. He's averaging 10.5 boards a night for Indy. It's still early, but I doubt he'll be as inconsistent as he was this season. Murphy (prior to this season... and half of last) was consistency. I hope he continues to drop 10 and 10 for the Pacers on a regular.

Meanwhile, Mike Dunleavy goes 1-for-7 from the field against the Heat. That makes his FG% on the Pacers a whopping 32%. Way to break out, Mikey!

And Ike has a typical Ike game. 11 minutes, 8 points (2/5 from the field... 5 attempts in barely 11 minutes!?!)... and 3 fouls. The only thing that isn't Ike-like about this game is that he didn't commit a turnover. Maybe Mully and Nelson were right to deal this guy.

MP can be scattered, but he does bring energy and a kind of positive unpredictablity.

He was trying to do it all and simply does not have those elusive MJ skills.

It seems that he has settled down a little in the last few games, probably because there are new players now that compliment his game.

He does not get into ball-handling hell nearly as often as he used to and has passed up some risky shots and passes that he would have attempted before.

When he has a set role and gets to concentrate on his strengths, he will be even more valuable.

I think there will be a long and frustrating learning curve and many will not have the patience to see it through. Given the time, though, MP could turn out to be pretty damn good.

We will not get a decent forward or big in return for Pietrus. Pietrus was exciting and valuable as a rookie and led our team, defensively, on a late season run with his lock down defense with the Musselman crew. Three years later, his defense has stayed stagnant and his offense consists of slashing, three pointers and free throw misses. He can't create his own shot, and like Harrington, Diogu, Murphy, Ellis and Arenas, he is a black hole on offense. He flourished in the up and down Nellie system, but he has not shown the ability to improve year after year like other dominant/emerging players like Arenas, Josh Howard, Boris Diaw. My understanding is that he is a restricted free agent, and it makes sense for him to stay with the Warriors and improve his skills unless he gets a blockbloster deal from another team. In addition, Nellies experience with Mitch Richmond, will make the Warriors reluctant to trade away a proven vet just to get taller. Fortunately, Nellie has the track record of creating careers (Diop, Nitwoski, Hardawy, J Howard, Marquis Daniel) and players like Barnes, Ellis, Biedrins, BD, Pietrus and their agents need to thank Nellie for increasing their contract value.

Carlgo and Dareedle you both make very good points. Nelly knows how to bring the strong points out of a player. Pietrus has benefited more by having a take charge guy like Baron on the team than anyone else. Pietrus is not neatly the balck hole on offense as he use to be. He has found biedrins a number of times on the pick and roll. Also, with a guy like Pietrus, the points gurds have to know that he is a finisher and not a creator. You don't give MP the ball unless you want to finish the play. The same goes with Monta. Back in my day we use to say you don't get Farrah Fawcett to cook. You don't get a Pietrus or Monta to the set the table.

Sorry mate, I am going to have to disagree with you here on the part about Monta. While he has had some turnover issues during the season, he has gotten better and he is a creator on the offensive end of the floor.

In fact, over the last four games, Monta has dished out 25 assists, a little more than five a game. On top of that he has used his ability to penetrate and get past his defender to find open jump shooters like Mikael, Barnes or even Al and Biedrins down low.

Monta is a great creator on offense and to place him in the same category as Mikael as only a finished is way off base in my book.

Does Monta having learning to to become an even better creator? Yes. However, each game we see him make some nice passes to his teammates IN SCORING POSITIONS.

Monta's ball-handling skills will get better and in turn he will become a better overall player. However, there is no denying his creativity on offense. He can score and create chances for others as well. Pietrus does not have near the ability has Ellis.
